The GE Aviation Power Conversion and Control business is leading the way in the application of advanced technologies in the development and delivery of high performance power conversion and control products for Aerospace and Military ground vehicles, and industrial hybrid vehicle applications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • As Electrical Engineering Manager, you will lead an electrical engineering team that comprises roughly 20-30 electrical engineers and designers located in Bohemia, NY and Pompano Beach, FL
  • You will plan, drive and coordinate critical development activities including requirements definition, architecture, design, integration, verification and validation.
  • You will support unit-level, customer and platform testing to ensure successful qualification, certification, entry into service, and be responsible for cost and schedule of all electrical engineering activities.

In particular, you will:

  • Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel
  • Lead electrical engineering process development, requirements definition, integration, verification and validation
  • Support unit-level, customer and platform testing to ensure successful certification and entry into service
  • Lead customer programs as Technical Lead from concept to completion
  • Manage cost, schedule, and concurrent engineering efforts through the electrical engineering lifecycle
  • Ensure NPI performance by driving and motivating the direct/indirect team to achieve metrics
  • Develop high quality proposals and lead cost estimates and develop basis of cost estimates to support the proposals
  • Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives
  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
  • Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel
  • Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning
  • Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an electrical engineering leadership, project leadership or functional manager role with direct reports within an engineering environment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Previous experience in development of Aerospace and Military Electrical Power Conversion products & technology
  • Previous experience with formal engineering processes
  • Aerospace and military engineering process experience 
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Effective team building and project management ability
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of aerospace and military standards
