Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff Data Displays and Controls (DDC) Architect Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
The selected individual will perform as a leader within an interdisciplinary team to develop novel and innovative solutions to advanced technical problems. The successful DDC Architect will contribute to the overall development of Weapons Integration, including developing functional architectures, analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements. You will design, develop, build, DDC solutions in conjunction with key suppliers.
The candidate will be responsible for:
Support development and integration of piloted aircraft display and processing components
Lead and/or support development and integration throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration and test, flight test requirements verification, and sustainment.
Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
Perform MBSE and capturing requirements, interfaces, behaviors, structures and parametrics
Perform flight and mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”.
Ensure performance capabilities of employed architectures and solutions are traded against cost and system requirements and assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.
Performing functional and performance analyses
Run detailed trade studies
Provide design assessments and perform verification checks
Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers including development of supplier statement of work and requirements, review and analyze supplier design data, hardware/software acquisition, test and deliveryt requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution.
Develop technical system integration and verification plans and track their progress
Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization.
Performing risk analysis and developing mitigation plans and tracking to closure
Guide all activities in the System Engineering “V”, with MBSE Digital Engineering and Agile design methodology.
Lead and/or support technical discussions with the customer and having daily interaction with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub teams
Basic Qualifications:
Staff Data Displays and Controls (DDC) Architect Engineer (T05):
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Experience with design, development, and integration of flight deck equipment
Experience in COTS / MIL-COTS hardware functional design and performance analysis
Experience with trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) with regard to supplier current and future products offerings
Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
Experience with Military Navigation and Navigation Aids
Experience with integrating Military Navigation instrumentation on aircraft and interfacing with mission software
Integration and/or Design experience with of one or more of the following avionics systems as applied to military aircraft: Flight Management Systems (FMS), Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), Control Display Units (CDUs), Terrain Avoidance and Warning, Systems (TAWS), Crew Alerting System (CAS), Moving Maps, Embedded GPS/INS (EGI) Navigation Systems
Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) experience
Performance Based Navigation (PBN) experience and attaining PBN certification
Experience designing to RTCA DO-178 software standard
Experience designing to RTCA DO-254 hardware standard
Experience designing to RTCA DO-200 standard
Experience designing to RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards
Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and Ethernet communication protocols
Experience leading/guiding teams through product definition and implementation
Experience communicating with and presenting to senior leadership
Experience collaborating on large interdisciplinary teams
Experience in supplier/subcontract management
Experience in the development of real time embedded software
Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)

Salary Range: $147,700 - $221,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
