Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate student to join the Structural Integrity team as an Intern. You will primarily be in our Santa Cruz Headquarters working closely with design, analysis, manufacturing, and integration teams on new and existing products with opportunities to collaborate with other teams in our Marina and San Carlos locations as well. This Internship will provide valuable hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Support analysis of metallic and composite structures• Learn about dispositioning aircraft non-conformances including rework instructions (MRB) • Support methods and allowables and structures test projects

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline• Be in your Junior (3rd) year• Taken a Structures Course• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Experience in supporting and working with cross-functional teams

• Highly motivated, self-starter

• Proficiency with MS Office tools, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Desired

• Basic understanding of FEMs. NASTRAN/FEMAP and other software are a plus

• Any aircraft or manufacturing experience is an asset

• Taken an introductory to CAD

• All other computer systems and software are a plus

• Previous internship experience working in aircraft or rotorcraft

Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is $25 - $31/hr. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,880 - $7,800/month. Individual pay is determined by internship role, department, experience, job-related skills, and level of education.
