Job Description SummaryThis position is for an experienced individual contributor who will be responsible for improving the producibility and throughput of structural castings across GE Aerospaces commercial and aeroderivative product lines. The role will involve partnering with Engineering, Quality, and suppliers to solve manufacturing challenges, execute design changes, implement process controls, and drive technical excellence across the organization.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and requirements.

  • Collaborate with engineers, casting technologists, quality leaders, product line focals, and delivery teams to drive open dialogue, define and execute action plans, and achieve meaningful outcomes.

  • Travel to supplier sites to gain practical knowledge of hardware manufacture and producibility challenges.

  • Utilize in-depth discipline knowledge, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute moderately complex projects to meet technical requirements and business goals.

  • Provide support for nonconformance reviews (MRB), process qualification (SPS), producibility improvements, and hardware delivery.

  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and recommend improvements.

  • Mentor colleagues with less experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related engineering field from an accredited university or college.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in design engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience in the design and manufacture of aerospace components, particular nickel-based castings.

  • Fundamental understanding of aerospace hardware and turbomachinery design.

  • Flexible and respectful approach to working in cross-functional, global teams.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Established project management skills.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Certification in ASME Y14.5 or practical experience with GD&T.

  • Self-starter with a passion for problem solving and driving solutions.

  • Open to learning and mentoring others.

  • Familiarity with lean practices and behaviors.
