Youll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

Our System Engineers work in an agile, collective environment, as such this role requires working closely with diverse engineering disciplines, management, and directly with the customer to help derive requirements. This critical work supports the production, modification, and delivery of critical training devices for national defense and aerospace assets operating worldwide.

SNC is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer interested in working in a fast-paced aviation simulation and training domain, interfacing with new, cutting-edge hardware and software solutions associated with strategic platform and airborne mission systems.  Development begins in the System Integration Laboratory (SIL), where hardware and software are designed, developed, integrated before deployment of new products to live simulation platforms, providing the latest training capabilities for end-users. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design complex system architectures
  • Capture, trace, analyze, and manage system requirements
  • Lead teams through engineering lifecycle of concept development, design, installation, test and verification
  • Track, prioritize, and manage engineering activities, resources, and overall execution based on platform and program needs
  • Track and report engineering progress to Program and Engineering Management
  • Install custom hardware and software solutions
  • Develop, implement, track, and revise standardized engineering processes across program team and platform based on company policies, industry best practices, and guidelines
  • Integrate and troubleshoot commercial-off-the-self hardware and software
  • Sustain a durable system laboratory infrastructure
  • Evaluate, verify, and validate deliverable systems
  • Communicate technical details with development team, customers, and end-users
  • Author and revise technical manuals and documentation

Must-haves:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Experience leading teams of engineers
  • Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
  • Experience with engineering requirements management
  • Experience in systems design, integration, troubleshooting, fielding, and sustainment
  • Experience with technical risk identification and risk management strategies
  • Experience in Evaluation, Verification, and Validation (EV&V) practices
  • Experience reading, reviewing, and interpreting complex technical engineering drawings
  • Understanding of Integrated Product Development Process (IPDP), Integrated Digital Development (IDD), or similar product lifecycle best practices
  • Current, in-scope, U.S. government issued security clearance (at least Secret level)
  • Able to travel up to 10-25, CONUS

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering with emphasis in Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
  • 8 or more years of multi-discipline engineering experience in industry
  • Experience in the Aerospace and/or Defense
  • Experience in aviation simulation and/or aircrew training
  • Experience in network design, network administration, and group policy
  • Experience with DOORS or similar requirements management toolsets
  • Experience with Rhapsody, MATLAB or similar data analysis toolsets
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) or understanding of INCOSE standards in systems engineering
  • Understanding of best practice design standards, such as Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • -Understanding of Technical Performance Measurement (TPM) tracking and analysis
  • Understanding of cybersecurity implementation and best practices
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, confidently work in overhead and subfloor structures

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $104,827.91 - $144,138.38. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
