JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing processes and changes that result in creating a quality conscious environment which shows a reduction of defects within the tooling department. Subject matter expert in the area of tooling quality assurance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as focal point to interpret the latest engineering type design, tool design specifications and computer tooling models to develop a comprehensive plan of inspection. Helps implement inspection plan through all phases of tool manufacturing to assure conformity to engineering and tool design requirements. Plans and performs a sequence of operations in the inspection of computer generated tools, associated physical tooling, and manufacturing processes. Uses CATIA, Spatial Analyzer and other similar software packages in tandem with digital metrology equipment (portable CMM or laser tracker) as well as traditional measurement equipment.

  • Knowledgeable of tooling specifications, quality procedures including quality intructions and certification procedure requirements appropriate to the area of assignment.

  • Identifies parts and ensures acceptable appearance, function, tolerances, dimensions and specifications. Familiar with GD&T tolerancing.

  • Completes and maintains a variety of inspection documentation.

  • Assists Quality Engineers, Tooling Quality Analysts and Tool Engineers in more extensive Root Cause Corrective Action determinations.

  • Able to act in a coaching capacity with Tooling IQ qualified employees.

  • Knowledgeable of FAA Regulations and associated regulatory requirements appropriate to assigned areas.

  • Able to act as an audit escort during internal and external audits.

  • Able to interpret and conform new model engineering or changes with feedback to engineering.

  • Proficient in business applications as required for the area of work assigned.

  • Supports the Quality Assurance Bulletin process as it applies to the Tooling department.

  • Possesses or obtains certification/qualifications appropriate to assigned tooling area.
Job Requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Manufacturing design or relative engineering experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems preferred.
  • Microsoft Office and SAP proficiency a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, metrology and GD&T a plus.
  • Catia V6 and 3DCS experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to clearly communicate technical details to others.
