Role Introduction

As a UX/UI Designer, you will be responsible for the creative digital design, prototyping and interactive experiences in web and mobile application projects. Working with a energetic team mentoring junior designers to deliver world class products. 

In this role, you should be an analytical and creative problem solver who is able to grasp user wants and deliver suitable solutions that meet users’ needs and expectations. A strong portfolio of successful work and other technical projects is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cross-team collaboration with multiple multidisciplinary teams to deliver beautiful end to end user experiences across multiple platforms. Including websites, apps, and other touch-points.
  • Lead user research including but not limited to contextual interviews, usability testing and A/B tests. Analyse the results, and present your findings to stakeholders/partners.
  • Define and deliver user requirements specifications, personas, storyboards, scenarios, user flow diagrams, wireframes, design prototypes, and design specifications.
  • Define and deliver interaction design building on existing UI patterns, and visual design language.
  • Take ownership and refine UX and UI pattern libraries and design guidelines for designers and vendors to consume.
  • Drive Cathay Pacific quality standards, process, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate design workshops with various stakeholders/business units and ensure that the workshop runs smoothly.
  • Apply your multi-disciplinary point of view of product design to the conversation.
  • Lead the conversation with development and business teams through all stages of design and development, pushing the best practices of design.
  • Ensure the focus of the users needs, how your solution will solve our customers pain points but also considering business needs.
  • Ability to motivate your team and deliver results in a timely fashion.
  • Mentor and help junior designer grow within the business.
  • Collaborate, create, and help the design team deliver.

 

E&A Responsibility

  • Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities as required
Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Design / Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

  • 6+ years of work related experience required.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates an ability to turn ideas into a strong and unique creative vision. A portfolio that provides insights into the candidate’s design thinking process is a must.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; Fluent in English, Cantonese and Chinese a definite plus.
  • Experience conducting/leading user research, including but not limited to: contextual interviews and usability & accessibility testing
  • Must have world-class interaction and visual design skills with the ability to design intuitive interfaces.
  • In-Depth knowledge of inclusive design including a detailed understanding of accessibility standards.
  • Mastery in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts (e.g. storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, etc) to business stakeholders.
  • Mastery in a variety of design and experience tools including but not limited to: Sketch, Invision, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • The ability prototype in HTML/CSS, JavaScript is a plus
  • A firm understanding of the development process and how your design decisions will affect the development of the product.
  • Ability and willingness to sketch/whiteboard in real-time.
  • Examples of participation in design workshops, facilitation is a plus.
  • Experience working in small multi-disciplined collaborative teams.
  • Strong at multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively.
  • Familiarity with technical and or business decisions and the ability to work constructively & persuasively with development & business departments to deliver an optimal design solution.
  • Understand the pros and cons of Agile methodologies and SCRUM within the design discipline and how to deliver the best work possible within an agile team.
