Job Description:
Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, founded in 1929, is a nationwide leader in aviation maintenance and electronics training and is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Financial Aid Advisor. This position will support our branch campuses by assisting students and parents in determining the affordability of obtaining education through Financial Aid assistance and payment options; assistance with the financial award process, need analysis, counseling, financial aid follow-up and aid reporting. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate with students in person, and at a distance using email, telephone, and Microsoft Teams
 
Minimum Skills/Education
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Financial Aid or other experience related to Post- Secondary education
  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Possess a general understanding of Federal Regulations as they relate to Title IV funding as well as an understanding of basic federal tax law as it relates to Financial Aid
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Exemplary customer service skills to promote a student-centered environment and support student success
  • Financial Aid Management System Experience Preferred (CNS/Anthology Student)

Job Requirements
  • Administer and award all financial aid programs at college including federal, state, and institutional aid, scholarships (internal and external), loans, and veteran benefits.
  • Participate in program reviews/audits.
  • Prepare information for publications and maintain current information on PIA website.
  • Communicate as needed with student and parents regarding financial aid programs.
  • Assist students in the process of applying for and determining eligibility for VA Educational Benefits.
  • Performing School Certifying Official duties for students with VA Educational Benefits.
  • Work with students, instructors, financial aid staff, and registrar regarding withdrawals, LOAs/reentries.
  • Perform monthly Quality Assurance checks.
  • Develop/implement a loan default prevention plan and provide financial literacy information.
  • Disseminate to student loan borrowers annual loan information.
  • Management of student files including R2T4
  • Work daily with the financial aid software system (Anthology, COD, ELMOne, NSLDS, and Microsoft Excel).
  • Stay knowledgeable of Title IV regulations and have the requirements of the Pennsylvania state grant program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
