Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE

To provide financial planning and analytical support for Ascent Aviation Services.  With the guidance of the CFO, the FP&A analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the Company’s financial reporting framework, including but not limited to the following: preparing the weekly Thirteen Week Cashflow, preparing the annual operating and capital budgets, preparing the monthly budget variance reports, leading periodic budget variance meetings with departmental heads, and helping prepare the Company’s monthly reporting package, Board of Director packages, assisting in the monthly close processes and performing ad-hoc analyses. 

 

The role supports business decisions within the organization through 1) Integrated planning and forecasting, ensuring that the strategic plan can be measured and checked through forecasting and budgeting.  2)  Performance management: Evaluate, maintain, and improve management reporting on progress and performance on financial and operational goals to answer what happened, what it means, and what we do next.  3) Financial analysis: Deliver insight based on constructed models, data, and information.  4) Continual Improvement: Employ best practices to ensure FP&A remains relevant to the changing business operating models, data management and systems architecture, and team development.

The role will manage key technical processes such as DataRails (FP&A, budgeting, and financial reporting) and Trovata (Cash flow management).   Must have Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Power BI and Intermediate Financial Accounting knowledge.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      Essential Job Functions: 

  • As a critical business partner, work in areas including budgeting, performance reporting, and expense management
  • Partner with CFO and Controller, and business leaders to develop and analyze annual budgets for assigned departments
  • Use financial modeling based on operational volume drivers and historical trends to develop annual budgets
  • Create and maintain weekly and monthly KPI and financial reporting, which will be utilized to make strategic and informed business decisions.
  • Own monthly variance analysis for assigned departments, review results with business leaders, reconcile actual costs with budget, and summarize variance explanations
  • Perform post-mortem analysis after the aircraft departs and present the financial results of project
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel;
  • Power BI and MS PowerPoint proficiency
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with large data sets and pivot tables
  • Knowledge of Financial Planning Systems (DataRails preferred)
  • Must have an Intermediate Level knowledge of accounting
  • Analytical with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Able to deliver within tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work successfully in a team environment and be adaptable to changing priorities

Education/Training: Undergraduate degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting or relevant field
Experience: Two or more years of relevant finance experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Potential Hazards:  Exposure to hazardous materials and heat stress.
  • Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Requires frequent walking, climbing, bending and reaching to shoulder level.  Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 10 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Equipment Operated:  General office equipment such as personal computer.
  • Work Location: The primary work location will be the Finance Offices at the Marana facility, with occasionally the Tucson site. 

SMS REQUIREMENTS

  • The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires aviation service providers to implement a Safety Management System (SMS) to identify and manage safety hazards. You may be required to participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance.
