Nightwing, a $1.9B intelligence solutions company, is hiring a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Intern.  This position can be remote (from home) or on-site at Nightwing headquarters in Dulles, VA.  The FP&A team is responsible for planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytics to support business decisions and the general financial health of the organization.  In FP&A, we analyze our past & present financial performance, providing data-driven insight to leaders across the business.  We also partner with business unit and functional leaders to predict our financial future through assessment of our backlog, market positioning, strategic roadmap, investment requirements and pipeline of potential new business.

The FP&A Intern will lead or assist with the following activities:

  • Weekly financial reporting & analysis of our performance on key metrics (Bookings, Backlog, Revenue, EBIT, Operating Margin, Free Cash Flow)
  • Monthly preparation of our Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
  • Coordination of our monthly rolling 8 quarter forecasting process by business unit & program
  • Weekly forecasting of cash receipts
  • Coordination of our Long Range Plan (5-Year forward-looking forecast by program & element of cost in alignment with our business strategy) and Annual Operating Plan (1-Year Forward Looking with more granularity than the LRP to establish goals for the upcoming calendar year)
  • Calculation and monitoring of business performance against goals established for the Nightwing Annual Incentive Plan


Required Skills

  • GPA of 3.0+ on a 4.0 grade scale
  • An actively enrolled student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, Management, or another related field
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements

  • Proficient user of MS Excel, Word & Powerpoint
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced dynamic environment 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex information concisely
  • Independent, self-motivated, and highly organized
  • Ability to form strong working relationships with teammates across all disciplines
