Overview

This position exists to program CNC Machines, it requires a “Hands On” approach and team player that will performing 6S activities in their area and involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Train other programmers and/or Machinists as required
  • May be required to assist in sourcing and commissioning of new machine shop equipment
  • Create and/or update programs to fabricate machined parts to meet engineering drawings/models
  • Set-up machines as required
  • Design holding fixtures as required for part fabrication
  • Ability and aptitude to train or cross-train other CNC Programmers
  • Research vendor websites to specify correct cutting tools and associated programming thereof
  • May be required to assist Quality with inspection criteria based on critical dimensions
  • Assist machinists with part measurements for First Article Inspection and adjustment of programs as necessary to meet drawing requirements
  • Stay current with new versions of programming software
  • Participate in designated continuous improvement activities as requested
  • May be required to design fixtures
  • Participate in all required training sessions
  • Complete all required data entry and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
    • Employee is occasionally required to stand
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk throughout the facility
    • This position is mainly sedentary; Therefore, required to sit
    • Occasionally will need to bend, stoop and squat
    • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds 
    • Required to reach with hands and arms to handle documents and products
    • Must be able to enter data into a computer by use of a key board and mouse and be able to sit for long periods at his/her desk as well as occasionally visit employees throughout the building to gather data and clarify information

      Education:

      • High School Diploma or equivalent training institution Certification and/or demonstrated experience in a similar manufacturing environment
      • Minimum 5 years experience in a technical environment

      Experience:

      • Overseeing and approving DFMA reviews and approval of engineering drawings (specifically tools, jigs & fixtures) preferred
      • Minimum 5 years CAD programming and CAD experience (SolidWorks and Inventor preferred)
      • Design holding fixtures as required for part fabrication
      • Experienced Esprit programmer, competent at CNC machine set-up across a variety of machines
      • Strong computer and analytical skills required
      • Base knowledge of machining tolerances and process capabilities
      • Experience reading and using basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.)

      • Proficiency in machining tolerances and process capabilities
      • Proficiency in the inspection tools and methods
      • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Must be able to work in a highly collaborative environment
      • Ability to identify and solve problems with little direction or assistance
      • Proficient mathematical skills including geometry and math conversions
