Job Description SummaryThe mission of the Materials & Process (M&P) team is to support to all GE Additive modalities, developing feedstock and processes (both on-and off-machine) to create additive components that meet material quality and performance requirements as well as providing M&P requirements/considerations during the design phase of additive manufacturing machines.

As an Engineering Lab technician, you will support powder, metallurgical, and material property characterization that drive engineering decisions for various internal and external projects through collaboration with a team of dynamic engineers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Effective operation of metrology, powder analysis, and metallographic equipment for evaluation of hardware and material coupons
  • Conduct experiments and inspections on assigned processes, working with Engineering counterparts to develop and document processes as well as suggest improvements
  • Gather, record, compile, and interpret quantitative/qualitative material characterization data, such as coupon dimensions, surface finish, porosity, grain size, etc...
  • Ensure safe operating conditions of equipment as well as a clean laboratory environment, highlighting any concerns and holding others accountable

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in applicable technical discipline from an accredited school or institution OR
  • High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years’ work experience in manufacturing/testing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Detail oriented with regards to measurement execution and data documentation
  • Proficiency with computers/programs, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a dynamic team-based environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and EHS best practices

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
