Job Description:

The inventory control manager is responsible for ensuring that the company’s materials and products meet all their specifications. They locate key suppliers and negotiate purchasing agreements with them on behalf of the company to get higher quality goods at the lowest prices possible. In addition, they oversee the ordering, storing, receiving, and distributing process of products and supplies. They control the flow of supplies and equipment, track and analyze inventory, and develop protocols for loss mitigation. Duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns
  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings
  • Analyze industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies
  • Designing and implementing an inventory tracking system for optimized inventory control procedures
  • Examine the levels of raw materials and supplies to determine shortages
  • Document daily shipments and deliveries to replenish inventory
  • Create detailed reports for adjustments, inventory operations, and stock levels
  • Evaluating new inventory, ensuring it’s ready to ship
  • Properly order new supplies avoiding excessive surplus or inefficiencies
  • Responsible for leading direct reports including but not limited to performance evaluations, training, and as necessary, hiring
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Legally eligible for employment in the United States of America
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Background check
  • Previous experience as a procurement specialist or similar role preferred

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to work indoors for extended periods of time
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift or carry 20lbs

Additional

  • Have good communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read and write the English language
  • Possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Good attention to detail is a must
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Critical-thinking skills to establish action plans and routinely assess their effectiveness
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple moving pieces, people, and orders
