The Training Technician – CNC Technician will report to the Manager - IFS Mock-Up Shop and collaborate with a team of technicians, curriculum designers, instructors, subject-matter experts, staff and suppliers to design, manufacture and maintain aircraft mock-up training devices. This is an IFS Learning position which provides operational support for IFS, Flight Operations, ACS and TechOps training while performing scheduled and non-routine maintenance, ensuring equipment is operating properly and documentation procedures are followed in compliance with the FAA-regulated Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) standards. This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented, hands-on, operational and project-driven position with up to eight to ten hours per day spent working while standing. This role practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
  • Completely and independently sets up and operates Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment, 3D Printers, Thermoform machines, 3-Axis Mills and Conventional equipment to perform complex or precision operations in accordance with repair requirements
  • Ensures operation of machinery. This includes completing preventative maintenance on the machines
  • Must be proactive towards learning needed software/SOJT training process
  • Maintaining emergency evacuation equipment for a dynamic and fast-paced, hands-on training operation, while providing daily operational support for IFS, Flight Operations, ACS and TechOps
  • Performing other operational functions, including, but not limited to, ordering, shipping and receiving materials and confirming scheduled maintenance is accomplished, equipment is operating properly and documentation procedures are followed in compliance with AQP standards put forth by the Voluntary Safety Programs (AFS-230) branch of the FAA
  • Inspecting all training devices on a defined schedule to ensure optimized device performance and operational efficiency
  • Troubleshooting daily mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment, as well as specialized software to ensure efficient operation of devices required for regulatory training to minimize the scheduling impact of the airline operation
  • Completing detailed and comprehensive maintenance logs and reports.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must have a minimum of four years verifiable experience as an industrial CNC machine operator and possess the following: A CNC operator certificate, or a 2-year degree in manufacturing technology, or PLC Programming, or Industrial Systems Technology, or Machine Tool Technology required
  • *Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of computer-aided software, i.e. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Draftsight,etc.
  • * Must have the ability to work without close supervisory direction and complete jobs without assignment of tasks

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Experience with electrical engineering, programming, welding, painting, carpentry, soldering, assembly or maintenance for aircraft or automobiles
  • Working knowledge of SAP ordering-related roles (e.g., ZMST, ZDSI, MM03, PIC03, PK05, PK13N, MB51 and MMBE) and OTIS and OTIS-x Desktop manuals
  • Working knowledge of CAD, MS Project, Smartsheet or Visio software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Outlook using email, calendars and contacts
  • Knowledge in ME21N, ME23N SAP and PartTrac abilities
  • An understanding on how to navigate the AIPC and AMM, AirNv, My Boeing Fleet and fleet manuals, including the CMM, Cabin Systems and Interiors Engineering Library, and safety manuals, including the SPPM
  • The ability to navigate the WCL and MSDS for chemicals (or appropriate classes will be assigned following a successful bid)
  • Project management experience, or an active role in a team that has used project management practices
  • Degree, certificate or other training in an electrical, mechanical or structural program
  • Airframe or Powerplant certificate holder
  • Skills in troubleshooting and repair of systems, including, but not limited to, servos, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, structural systems, electrical systems and a depth of experience with automation-type systems, including, but not limited to, PLC controllers
  • Proven ability to inspect electrical subassemblies, wiring and cable harnesses against documented quality and workmanship standards.
