Job Objective


The Program Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician is a supervisory and support position intended to provide direct supervision to the Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMT) for the program, as assigned.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining a close liaison with the Regional Maintenance Manager to provide current status of aircraft and forecast downtime
  • Provide planning, management and oversight of the maintenance organization within the assigned program
  • Provide aircraft technical support, maintenance planning of daily, short-term and long-term planning of all maintenance activity within the assigned program
  • Ensure company aircraft are maintained in accordance with the Airworthiness Standards prescribed by applicable Regulations, Airworthiness Directives and Metro Aviation’s policies and procedures
  • Oversee the management of the aircraft maintenance activities including overhaul, modifications, maintenance and repair of aircraft airframe, rotors, propellers, engines and appliances
  • Responsible for after-hours Maintenance Management support for respective program
  • Responsible for a thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, the General Maintenance Manual, the Operations Manual and Operations Specifications
  • Ensure that AMTs are properly qualified and trained for their respective assignments
  • Communicate and interface with the customer Program Manager, the aircraft scheduled maintenance activity, unscheduled maintenance activity and other activity that may affect the availability of the aircraft
  • Responsible for the timely repair of deferred items in reference to the MEL Management Program
  • Notify and announce Aircraft Out of Service events on the company Intranet Portal
  • Ensure the Part 135 Director of Maintenance is notified in the event of encounters with the FAA such as ramp checks, base visits or requests to contact ATC. Notification may be made by email or by phone during normal duty hours. The notification shall include but not be limited to:

a. Location, date, and time

b. Name of inspector name

c. Areas covered and areas of concern

  • Coordinate new base startups and participate in initial training of AMTs
  • Responsible for ensuring all company owned and AMT owned calibrated tools are kept up to date in the company calibrated tool tracking log for their assigned program and personnel
  • Review aircraft maintenance schedules for:

a. Work flow

b. Equipment location

c. Facility location

d. Tool requirements

e. Supply requirements

f. Job requirements

  • Promote professional development of the AMTs
  • Oversee the execution of all duties assigned to his/her subordinates
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Ability to create an environment that demonstrates teamwork and professionalism with diverse personalities and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong initiative
  • Proficient in directing, guiding, and evaluating personnel
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a subject matter expert in Part 135 Operations
  • Minimum of 5 years OF experience with turbine-powered rotorcraft or airplane experience

Required Certificates

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate

Physical Demands

  • Walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting for extended periods of time
  • Climbing heights on various equipment
  • Lifting up to 50 or more pounds
  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required

Work Environment

  • Indoor/Outdoor environment with potential extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible
  • Moderate to loud noise level

  • Schedules vary by assigned program
