JOB DESCRIPTION:

The A&P Structures Mechanic performs a variety of aircraft maintenance and structural repair duties on corporate aircraft. This role requires a versatile technician capable of performing both traditional A&P maintenance tasks and aircraft structural fabrication, modification, and repair. The mechanic will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and complete structural fabrication and assembly activities to ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, and airworthiness.

The ideal candidate is a dual-threat technician with experience in both corporate aircraft maintenance and aircraft structures, capable of supporting complex maintenance events, modifications, and structural repairs.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform a variety of aircraft maintenance activities on multiple aircraft models including diagnosis of malfunctions and required disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, reassembly, or adjustment of aircraft systems to prepare aircraft for flight and delivery to the customer.
  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, mate, install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft structures, structural components, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and structural blueprints, planning documents, engineering drawings, process specifications, diagrams, and sketches to determine proper methods and sequence of operations.
  • Layout coordinated hole patterns, cutouts, trim lines, mating points, assembly locations, and installation points using precision measuring instruments and layout tools.
  • Assemble and mate aircraft structural parts and assemblies, including prefabricated components and major aircraft sections.
  • Attach structural parts and assemblies using riveting techniques and hand or power tools.
  • Perform drilling, routing, reaming, countersinking, spot-facing, and counterboring of aircraft parts and structural components.
  • Hand trim, fit, and finish structural components to ensure proper alignment and fit in accordance with engineering and maintenance requirements.
  • Modify or rebuild aircraft parts to conform to mold line or configuration changes.
  • Perform structural modifications to aircraft structure, mechanical systems, and installations in accordance with engineering instructions and approved data.
  • Incorporate major engineering changes and structural modifications required by service bulletins, engineering orders, or repair documentation.
  • Perform advanced aircraft maintenance tasks including sheet metal repair, corrosion treatment, structural repair, landing gear removal and installation, and engine removal and installation.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with the aircraft maintenance manual, service bulletins, FAA regulations, Spirit Aeronautics Repair Station Manual (RSM), and other approved documentation.
  • In partnership with the Maintenance Lead and Quality Inspectors, ensure full compliance with all internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate aircraft system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and efficiency of all assigned inspections, service, maintenance, and structural repair work scopes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and present a professional work area to customers.
  • Follow up on required parts, tooling, and equipment needed to complete assigned tasks and provide turnover information regarding deficiencies or shortages.
  • Prepare daily shift turnover reports and complete required documentation, forms, and maintenance records ensuring accuracy and proper sign-off.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED. Associates degree or higher in Aviation Maintenance desired.
  • 4 years of progressive maintenance experience and/or training in the business aviation industry or military.
  • Valid FAA A& license mandatory.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting avionics desired.
  • ASTM Aircraft Electronics Technician Certifications highly desired.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug test.
