Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs Quality Assurance Representatives level inspections in their areas of expertise. Schedules, documents and tracks quality assurance inspections per directives and as tasked for their field of expertise.

DUTIES:

  • The QI shall have academic and demonstrated knowledge and working experience in military aircraft maintenance organizations governed under CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and NAVAIR Instruction 3710.1(series) requirements.
  • A QI shall have demonstrated competence through satisfactory, progressive performance as an aircraft quality control inspector. Must have demonstrated knowledge, experience, and working level skills/ability in:
  1. Maintenance and repair expertise in their respective inspection area(s) (e.g., power plants, ALSS).
  2. Quality Assurance inspections scheduling, criteria, documents, directives, policies and requirements.
  3. Quality Assurance documentation, forms, logs and records.
  4. NALCOMIS and VIDMAFs
  • The QI shall have a minimum of four (4) years aircraft maintenance experience at an I and/or D level of repair in their work center areas of expertise.
  • The QI shall have a minimum of three (3) years experience in the field of DON military aviation as a "Quality Assurance Representative" in the last ten (10) years to the level of effort and complexity their respective work center expertise (e.g., Avionics, ALSS, Power plants/structures/ hydraulics/SE) of the requirements in this SOW. Examples of acceptable experience:
  1. QI-(AP) Aircraft Power Plants/Structures//Hydraulics/SE: Navy Aviation Machinists Mate (AD) or Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) Senior Enlisted with Aviation Quality Assurance Representative Maintenance Experience (i.e., E-6, E-7, E-8 or E-9) or USMC equivalency. Graduate from military A and C schools.
  2. QI-(ALSS) Aircraft Life Support Systems: Navy Aircrew Survival Equipment man (PR) Senior Enlisted with Aviation Quality Assurance Representative Maintenance Experience (i.e., E-6, E-7, E-8 or E-9) or USMC equivalency. Graduate from military A and C schools.
  3. QI-(AV) Aircraft Avionics Systems: Navy Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) or Aviation Electricians Mate (AE) Senior Enlisted with Aviation Quality Assurance Representative Maintenance Experience (i.e., E-6, E-7, E-8 or E-9) or USMC equivalency. Graduate from military A and C schools.
  • The QI shall have completed Navy Quality Assurance Representative course or equivalent.
  • The QI-Aircraft Avionics Systems must be capable of a SECRET security clearance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years aircraft maintenance experience at an I and/or D level of repair in their work center areas of expertise.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in the field of DON military aviation as a "Quality Assurance Representative".
  • Must have academic and demonstrated knowledge and working experience in military aircraft maintenance organizations governed under CNAFINST 4790.2.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance. The Secret Clearance process will include requesting a credit history.

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
