As an Engineering Degree Apprentice, after around 9 months completing your vocational foundation diploma, you will either join the Landing Gear Engineering or the Landing Gear Systems test team at our site in Filton working on mechanical and hydraulic-mechanical systems. You will work alongside our world class engineers and experts to gain a broad exposure to the engineering elements of our Commercial Aircraft Programmes.
We’re looking for Apprentices interested in studying a degree in Mechanical Engineering to be able to specialise in the design and testing of our future equipment and systems.
You are given freedom in your placements allowing you to explore the business and all of the internal stakeholders. Often apprentices do placements with different teams in their target department but also in a variety of other engineering departments, allowing you to develop your technical knowledge and soft skills so that you have a broad basis for your future career. During these placements, you will continue to develop your skills and technical knowledge through a combination of academic study, on the job experience and training.
What you will be doing:
Our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. Airbus is leading the way with this unique 4 year programme through which you will achieve a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing, EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence), EAL Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and work towards a professional IEng level award.
As an Apprentice Engineer the type of placements you will undertake may include:
Aircraft Architecture and Integration
Design
Simulation
Stress and Fatigue
Systems Installation Safety Analysis
Research and Technology
Certification
Ground and Flight Test
In Service Support
Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics)
You will also develop the following:
Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments
Business and Financial knowledge
Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people
Requirements:
In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:
104 combined UCAS points or above, made up of A level Grade B in Mathematics, plus a minimum of C in one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Computer Science, Design and Technology, Electronics, Engineering, ICT, Further Maths, Music Technology, Physics or Statistics, plus a further A level at C or above
OR
(BTEC) Diploma: You must be studying one of the following: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering - minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering),

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

Important Information:
GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the required grades before the apprenticeship start date.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
Our apprenticeship roles do not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration to enable sponsorship of migrant workers.
