Job Title: Aircraft Avionics Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling, modifying, installing, and troubleshooting aircraft avionics systems and electrical components in a final assembly line environment. You will work extensively with wire bundles, conductors, and avionics hardware, using both manual tools and specialized aircraft test equipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret complex technical documentation, and clear written and verbal communication to ensure safe, accurate, and compliant aircraft manufacturing and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors, and other electrical and avionics components on aircraft in a final assembly environment.
- Perform cable lay-ins, terminations, crimping, pinning, soldering, and related avionics wiring tasks with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
- Install, route, and secure wiring and wire harnesses, including coaxial cables and other specialized conductors, according to engineering and process specifications.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, and written instructions to complete avionics installations and repairs.
- Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting of avionics systems and aircraft electronics to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues.
- Support avionics installation, repair, and maintenance activities on a variety of aircraft platforms, including rotary and fixed-wing models.
- Use a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, and heat shrink guns, as well as complex, specialized aircraft test equipment.
- Clearly document all work performed, including logging critical information during installation, completing required forms, and maintaining accurate records.
- Control and update equipment status tags to reflect current condition, work progress, and readiness for use.
- Verify parts requests, confirm part numbers, and ensure that all components used meet required specifications and standards.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with team members, supervision, and other departments to coordinate work and resolve issues.
- Perform assigned duties on all shifts as needed, including work in varying weather conditions, physical locations, and environments while wearing required safety equipment.
- Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory procedures related to aircraft manufacturing, avionics installation, and electrical work.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, quality, and efficiency in avionics installation and testing.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of electrical or avionics aviation production experience preferred, including experience in aircraft manufacturing, assembly, or maintenance.
- Avionics experience with cable lay-ins, terminations, crimping, pinning, and soldering.
- Proven ability to assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors, and other electrical components on aircraft.
- Hands-on experience with avionics systems, aircraft electronics, and aircraft avionics troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and written instructions.
- Experience with wiring and wire harness fabrication, installation, and routing, including coaxial cable work.
- General knowledge of aviation electrical and avionic components and systems.
- Knowledge of rotary or fixed-wing aircraft platforms and their avionics and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform functional testing and troubleshooting of avionics systems using appropriate tools and test equipment.
- Proficiency using manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, and heat shrink guns.
- Ability to operate complex, specialized aircraft test equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and coordinating with team members.
- Ability to work all assigned shifts and perform duties in various physical locations and conditions while wearing required safety equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Military aviation or avionics experience is welcomed and will be considered toward the preferred experience.
- Experience working with or around major aircraft platforms and manufacturers such as CH-47, Chinook, V-22, MV-22 Osprey, UH-60, UH-1, Apache, AH-64, AgustaWestland, Sikorsky, Lockheed Martin, Eurocopter, Bell, Boeing, Gulfstream, Bombardier, and Dassault is beneficial.
- Experience in aircraft assembly and final assembly line operations.
- Familiarity with avionics installations and modifications across multiple aircraft types.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to systematically diagnose electrical and avionics issues.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship in safety-critical environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, production-driven environment.
- Comfort with logging, tracking, and maintaining detailed records of work performed and equipment status.

Work Environment
This position is based on a final assembly line in a modern aircraft manufacturing facility located in Philadelphia, PA. You will work on 1st or 2nd shift, with opportunities for overtime, including unlimited overtime for qualifying contract-to-hire roles. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, involving close collaboration with other technicians and teams to complete aircraft assembly and avionics integration. You will regularly use a wide range of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, and heat shrink guns, along with complex, specialized aircraft test equipment for avionics systems. Work may take place in various physical locations and conditions within the facility, and you will wear required safety equipment at all times. No personal tools are required, as all necessary tools and equipment are provided on site.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
