Job Description:

The Aircraft Mechanic 3 (General) - Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities related to a full range of military tactical aircraft (AH-64, CH-47, UH-60) including the assembly and modification, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems. This role involves managing a maintenance team, ensuring that all maintenance work is carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

The Aircraft Maintenance Manager will also oversee production control and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure minimal downtime and maximum fleet availability.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent is required.

  • Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is required for Germany (TESA) approval.

  • FAA A&P or FCC Elements 1 and 3 Required. (If willing and able to obtain an FCC License, discuss with Recruiter).

  • With FAA A&P certification, shall have at least Five (5) years Aviation maintenance experience, Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience. All combined experience must be within the Ten (10) most recent years.

  • Without valid A&P certification, must possess an FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3), shall have at least Five (5) years Aviation maintenance experience, Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned AH-64/CH-47/UH-60 Mission Design Series (MDS).

  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Govt Clearance and/or the NAC-I T1 Public Trust. Must have a current and valid US Passport.

  • All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.

Germany Specific Requirements:

  • TESA approval: Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; must have over 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.

  • Must be US Citizen. Must have a current and valid US Passport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage production control to ensure effective planning and resource allocation for maintenance tasks.

  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure aircraft maintenance completion dates are met on time.

  • Track and report on maintenance progress, adjusting schedules and resources as needed to meet deadlines.

  • Oversee all maintenance activities, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and overhauls of aircraft.

  • Monitor work orders, maintenance timelines, and resource allocation to ensure efficient workflow.

  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company policies and other relevant regulatory standards and is documented accurately.

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of aircraft mechanics, technicians, and support staff, ensuring high-quality work performance.

  • Manage staffing levels to meet operational requirements, including recruiting, training, and evaluating team members.

  • Handle disciplinary actions and foster a positive working environment.

  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.

  • Collaborate with logistics and supply chain departments to ensure the availability of parts and materials for maintenance tasks.

  • Prepare for and participate in internal/external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement them within maintenance operations as needed.

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety meetings and briefings.

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with maintenance activities, ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.

  • Provide regular reports on maintenance performance, safety metrics, and regulatory compliance to senior management.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Perform maintenance on a full range of military tactical aircraft.

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices, procedures, and systems, including airframe, powerplant, and avionics.

  • Shall possess the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while ensuring high-quality work and safety compliance.

  • Direct the work of lower-graded mechanics for complete assembly, modification and checkout of the entire aircraft and coordinates with related trades such as electrical, avionics, and sheet metal to assure proper sequence of the complete aircraft assembly process.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for reporting, coordinating, and managing relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills required to identify and resolve maintenance issues quickly and effectively.

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of technicians, ensuring a high level of performance and compliance.

  • Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.

  • Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and II and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

  • Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, utilizing the Armys Logistics Information System (ACN, ULLS-A).

  • Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation and modification of a wide variety of classes, models and series of aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and related systems.

  • Technical knowledge of the aircraft models and components/sub-assemblies assigned for maintenance, modification and repair.

  • Ability to read, apply and interpret technical data.

  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
