Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Will perform CH-47F/G (15F/N) scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance on avionics, ASE, and electrical components as assigned. Also required to work as an aircraft mech II when not working as an avionics tech. Requires an in-depth understanding of advanced electronic equipment and systems diagnostics.

DUTIES:

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions in electrical and electronic components, including solid state and transistorized subsystems
  • Repairs, replaces, and performs operational and preventive checks and alignments on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics and controlled cryptographic equipment
  • Removes, installs, repairs, adjusts and tests electrical/electronic elements of assemblies and components according to technical manuals, directives, and safety procedures
  • Repairs aircraft instrument systems. Applies principles of electricity/electronics, hydrostatic motion, pneumatics and hydraulics applicable to repair aircraft instrument systems
  • Troubleshoots equipment and traces avionic and cryptographic equipment wiring harnesses using technical manuals and schematic drawings to diagnose and isolate faults and effect repairs
  • Performs unit maintenance on special and common hand tools and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment
  • Cleans, preserves, and stores electrical/electronic components and aircraft instruments
  • Remove, repair, services, installs, and troubleshoots nickel-cadmium batteries
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on ground support equipment, common and special tools
  • Requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft electrical and avionics equipment systems
  • Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • Must have 4 years verifiable CH-47F experience, MOS 15U course graduate, equivalent from other DOD service or Boeing Vertol 234 and A&P
  • FAA airframe and powerplant (A&P) certificate desired
  • FCC Certificates is desired
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (Contractor employees shall have a favorable background investigation or hold a security clearance)
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and ACN
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with AR 95-20, DA PAM 738-751, AR 700-138, and all associated aircraft maintenance or equivalent DOD service manuals
  • Must have own tools and ability to meet minimum tool list requirements, apply FOD and tool control best practices in accordance with AR 95-20 and Flight and Ground Operating Procedures.

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
