Aircraft Mechanic III (23023):



Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.



ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Aircraft Mechanic III (Sheet Metal):



Sheet Metal Experience:

Minimum of eight years total experience in aircraft maintenance support with two years on F-15 aircraft as a sheet metal mechanic. The Contractor shall have the skill to remove and replace F-15 aircraft structural parts and accessories/components and the skill to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications and drawings. Experience in performing or supervising functions such as fabricating, repairing, assembling, or installing aircraft metals, plastics, fiberglass, composites, or honeycomb parts; and corrosion identification, removal, and applying coatings and markings is required. Leadership skills and supervision experience required.




Sheet Metal Knowledge:

The Contractor shall have the ability to follow and accomplish tasks in accordance with existing published technical data. The Contractor shall have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications required to accomplish maintenance tasks and modifications. Knowledge is mandatory of structural assembly and modification engineering drawings; concepts and application of maintenance directives; meaning of symbols used in structural and mechanical diagrams, blueprints; using and interpreting measuring devices; and proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.



Other:

The Contractor shall have the ability to assist in F-15E aircraft jacking/de-jacking, aircraft hydraulic system bleeds, and hydraulic landing gear operational checks. Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards is mandatory for this specialty.




Responsibility:

Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.



Task Requirements:



  • Performs duties as Team Lead

  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

  • Maintenance Control planning and management

  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means

  • Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections

  • Aircraft inspections

  • Troubleshooting

  • General aircraft maintenance

  • Technical Directive compliance and modifications

  • Tool Control Program Tool issue/receipt supporting aircraft maintenance shops including hazardous materials, tool room/box/pouch configuration



  • Maintain Aircraft, Engines, and SE Logbooks

  • Jacking/De-Jacking Aircraft

  • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment

  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required

  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.

  • Perform other tasks as directed.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ten or more years’ experience in aircraft maintenance

  • Five years’ experience on F-15 aircraft

  • Advanced Corrosion Control Course/Paint and Final Finish


Basic Qualifications:



  • Eight years Aviation Maintenance experience

  • Two years’ experience on F-15 aircraft



  • Must be able to work shift schedules as required per Performance Work Statement (PWS)

  • Must be able work work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Sn-Th or as required per PWS



  • Basic Corrosion Control Course.

  • Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules as required



  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Must have at a minimum an interim SECRET security clearance

  • Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be eligible for Restricted Area Badge

  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.

  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.

  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.

  • Must be able to travel to support off station Temporary Duty (TDY) as required



Compensation


$39.41/hour



Other Compensation


Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour paid.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
