Job Description:

Rotor is a startup based in Nashua, NH that is revolutionizing how aircraft are piloted. We are building autonomous full-scale helicopters designed to make helicopters and other VTOLs radically safer and more accessible.

We’re a 40+ person team that successfully flew our first prototype helicopter in 2022 and are currently working on a 4-seat helicopter platform based on the Robinson R44 that can carry 1,000 lbs of payload for over 3 hours. Our first product, the R550, will initially be deployed in 2024 for agricultural crop dusting applications.

Our team has built flight controls, communications, and software technology that gives pilots better situational awareness than the cockpit, enabling operations at night and in low visibility and preventing accidents caused by pilot disorientation and human error.

About the Role

We are looking to hire an Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician to work with our existing team of mechanics and technicians on converting Robinson R44 helicopters to teleoperations.  This is a great role for anyone working in aviation who is interested in building a product from the ground up.

  • Inspecting and testing installed components to ensure they meet proper fit, form, and function as well as quality and safety requirements.
  • Competence in manual machining (lathe and mill).
  • Proficiency in operating cutting, drilling, and riveting equipment.
  • Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and composite materials, as well as the ability to use hand tools, power tools, shop machinery, and precision measuring instruments in order to complete tasks.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Current and valid US Driver’s License
  • Computer proficiency to include office software applications.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Must have basic math and geometry skills.

  • Ability to work in a safe manner.

Highly desirable but not required:

  • Dynamic, hands-on, and action-oriented personality; adaptable and multi-disciplinary focus.
