Job Description:
STS Technical Services is hiring a Certified Welding Inspector for a short-term contract position in Georgetown, Kentucky. This role requires a dedicated individual to drive weld safety, quality, and effectiveness. The position involves conducting random visual inspections to monitor weld quality and providing technical support to improve coordination and collaboration between teams and departments. Job Details
  • Contract Duration: 6 weeks
  • Location: Georgetown, Kentucky (Local candidates only)
  • Citizenship: Required to be a US Citizen
Key Responsibilities
  • Follow welding/inspection procedures.
  • Conduct random inspections to verify weld quality in Oshkosh Corporation facilities.
  • Provide weld technical support for shop, purchasing, operations, and engineering.
  • Maintain routings and Bills of Materials (B.O.Ms).
  • Train welders on accepted quality criteria, best practices, weld techniques, equipment, and process parameters in relation to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs).
  • Set up tooling as required for the process.
  • Assist with operator preventive maintenance.
  • Practice and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Provide drawing weld symbol interpretation.
  • Identify and communicate robot weld issues to the Robot Technician.
  • Use design failure mode effects analysis to develop process mode failure effect analysis.
  • Champion problem solving in weld using out-of-specification (OOS) problem solving tools (8D, Fishbone Diagrams, 5 Whys, etc.).
  • Apply the Weld Control Plan to daily production.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to set up proper process parameters addressing Method, Material, Machine, and Man failure modes.
  • Conduct weld Layered Process Audits (LPAs).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
  • 3 years of related work experience
  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Welding Technology, Industrial Welding, or an IE/ME degree with CWI
