Job Description:

What the position is:

The Component Repair Specialist is responsible to manage all repair orders, including scope, cost, and turnaround time. This position covers the midday time period by overlapping the day and evening shifts. This position enhances and ensures sufficient staffing during critical shifts. This position has the authority to issue and manage part PO/RO life cycles, modify inventory processes and procedures, and source new supply/repair vendors as required.

Essential functions:

  • Ensure purchasing practices, pricing, material quality, and delivery schedules meet Company requirements and are consistently reviewed for cost criteria and savings opportunities.
  • Negotiate, review, and implement vendor agreements associated with material requirements necessary to maintain the Companies aircraft fleet.
  • Establish and oversee customs broker activities for the clearing of maintenance shipments in and out of the United States.
  • Execute the procurement, repair, exchange, expediting, routing, and communications relating to AOG and critical parts.
  • Provide additional AOG desk shift coverage and backfill night shift as necessary during vacation and sick time off.
  • Maintain working knowledge of fleet changes and modifications as they relate to materials requirements necessary to accomplish fleet objectives.
  • Monitor aircraft parts requirements to ensure aircraft maintenance schedules are fully supported.
  • Assist the Materials Department budgeting process and support the selected accounts for accuracy and controllable variances.
  • Facilitate process improvement by developing and modifying Purchasing and Repair procedures in support of Maintenance and Finance initiatives.
  • Attend Maintenance meetings involving interdepartmental coordination, procedures, and/or materials planning use.
  • Ensure departmental compliance regarding FAA regulations, hazardous materials documentation, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an awareness of economic and industry challenges that may impact the availability of materials needed to support the aircraft fleet and provide strategic recommendations to the Materials Manager.
  • Ensure that the Purchasing Manager is briefed fully regarding non-routine problems.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Leadership.

General requirements & qualifications:

  • Previous experience in procurement, component repair, logistics, and/or supply chain operations.
  • Previous experience with procurement/inventory management computer systems.
  • Familiar with aviation and aviation maintenance terminology including ATA chapters.
  • Demonstrate the ability & knowledge to effectively perform duties of this position.
  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures for working with internal & external vendor accounts.
  • Fluent in the English Language, both written and spoken
  • Demonstrate a positive, ethical and professional attitude.
  • High Level of attention to detail. Organized, efficient and manages time effectively.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequent or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and walking/standing occasionally with or without accommodation. Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

Visual Acuity:

Machine operators with inspection- Includes inspection, close assembly, clerical administrative; This is a minimal standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines using measuring devices, assembly, or fabrication of parts with or without corrective lenses.

Environmental Conditions:

Inside environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
