Position Purpose

The Director of Maintenance is responsible to the Accountable Manager for the overall operational aspects of the Airframe Services Program, Avionics Services Program, and Engine Services Program.

The Director of Maintenance ensures that FAA Regulations and manufacturers’ recommendations, contractual obligations as well as all company policies are adhered to by all teams, programs, and departments for which assigned.

  • Reports to the Accountable Manager and recommends standards to assure that operational performance of all programs are met.
  • Assists with contract bids working with the Accountable Manager, quality department personnel, logistics personnel and accounting personnel to assure accurate, transparent, and financially responsible bidding.
  • Assists project management, quality and logistics departments with all large work order quotes as well as attending pre-planning meetings.
  • Establishes initial work scopes and quotes and communicates both to the customers. Provides the customers regular quote updates for additional squawks discovered through the inspection process.
  • Utilizes the available project management tools to understand the status of each project in work. Provides customers with regular status of completion updates for their aircraft.
  • Reviews and approves all work order invoicing prior to submitting to customers.
  • Assures that all Service Center contractual requirements are met and provides monthly reports outlining KPI performance to Accountable Manager.
  • Provides oversight of repair station activities performed by vendor and contract maintenance facilities.
  • Ensures that maintenance, engine, and avionics personnel are effectively trained in proper work practices, company policies and procedures, and applicable sections of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations. (FOD, Tool management, SMS, etc.)
  • Ensures that the facilities occupied by maintenance personnel are kept safe, clean, and orderly. Identify and implement best practices and standards in repair station facilities using the 5-S model.
  • Promotes compliance with the policies and procedures governing the safety management system. Performs investigations and prepares rectifications in response to safety reports assigned by the safety coordinator.  Collaborates interdepartmentally as necessary to ensure rectifications are effective.
  • Provides input on any amendments to the repair station and quality control manuals with the Accountable Manager and the Chief Inspector to ensure that proposed amendments comply with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Promote Service Program sales.
  • Meets with customers and gathers feedback on performance.
  • Additional job-related duties as assigned by the Accountable Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Assists, supervises, and directs all maintenance and avionics personnel in the performance of their duties such that work is accomplished on schedule and on budget and in accordance with Federal Regulations and repair station procedures.
  • Conducts brief daily (standup) meetings with all maintenance and avionics personnel for an overview of all work in progress.
  • Confirms that all Services Directors and Managers enforce work order accountability; maintenance releases are made into maintenance logs and work orders in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Approves personnel requested training schedules provided by Directors and Managers.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The work environment is often not temperature/humidity controlled. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of 10 years with rotorcraft
  • Current, valid A&P license
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Understanding and experience within a Part 145 repair station
  • Prior project management experience
  • Must possess mastery of multiple airframes, associated aircraft systems, engines, engine systems, and their interactions with each other.
  • Extensive knowledge of the airframe and engine inspection requirements, airworthiness regulations, company policies and procedures, and quality and safety systems.
  • Must be extremely quality minded and demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, in-person, exempt position. 

Travel

This position may require occasional travel.  Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Salary Range: 100,000.00-115,000.00
