Job Description:

PURPOSE:

Serve as a Flying Aviation Maintenance Technician and Flight Attendant, performing maintenance on aircraft operating under FAA Part 135 flight rules and providing safe transport of passengers and cargo as assigned by the company and the DOD customer. Aircraft will be assigned to a government contract in OCONUS operations, providing passenger/cargo transport as well as causality evacuation support of the government client in an austere environment.

Incumbent will be responsible for performing maintenance duties on the assigned type of fixed wing turboprop aircraft in addition to Flight Attendant duties for passengers and cargo.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Aviation Maintenance Technician

1. Accomplish scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance in accordance with the company maintenance publications, manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, and the FAA part 135 regulations as directed by the Lead Maintenance Technician or maintenance manager.

2. Routinely troubleshoots, assess and diagnoses maintenance problems on assigned aircraft. Develops a repair strategy in consultation with Maintenance Lead on site and Berry’s maintenance support team stateside.

3. Routinely provides support to Lead Maintenance technician with ordering parts, inventory control, maintenance manual updates, repair and upkeep of ground support equipment, repair and upkeep of company owned and leased vehicles.

4. Routinely maintains, repairs and operates company or government furnished equipment including de-icing systems, fork- lifts, cranes and lighting systems.

5. Occasionally act as crew member during scheduled passenger and logistics flight in theater. As a flight crew member, the Maintenance Technician will be familiar with the contents and location of the on-board maintenance fly away kit.

6. Perform other duties as directed by maintenance management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Flight Attendant

1. Receives cargo/passenger load briefing and reviews load plan and cargo documentation.

2. Accomplishes load planning of cargo/passenger loads if required. Reviews aircraft forms for condition of aircraft.

3. Supervises cargo/passenger loading and off-loading operations with special emphasis on the marshalling of vehicles around or near the aircraft. Directs the placement of material handling equipment to accomplish cargo on/off loading operations.

4. Ensures cargo/passengers are placed per load plans. Confirms weight of cargo or weighs cargo to assure correct weight and cargo restraint requirements per criteria and directs and checks the application of cargo restraint equipment. Checks cargo/passenger loads against manifests.

5. Ensures availability of fleet service equipment (as applicable) and passenger comfort items.

6. Accomplishes passenger briefings to include the use of emergency equipment, demonstrates the use of passenger emergency oxygen systems, life vests and evacuation procedures.

7. Accomplishes in-flight checks per flight manual procedures. Monitors cargo and provides for passenger comfort.

Job Requirements:

Experience Requirements:

Preferred: Have at least three years of experience in maintaining aircraft under FAA part 135 program.

Preferred: To have at least one year of experience Government contracting experience in OCONUS austere environments/locations

Preferred: Flight Attendant Experience or Equivalent Civilian Training

Education requirements:

Minimum: High School diploma

Preferred: Undergraduate degree

      Unique skills or certifications:

1. FAA Airframe and Power Plant certificate

2. Three (3) years’ experience working on DHC-8 Aircraft; PW123 engine experience a plus (Highly Preferred)

3. BAI 14 CFR 135 Core Maintenance Indoctrination

4. Comprehensive Aircraft Familiarization Course (Aircraft Type Specific)

5. Qualified as Parts Receiving Inspector under 14 CFR 135 training program

6. Qualified as RII Inspector under 14 CFR 135 training program (Aircraft Type Specific)

7. Qualified as FAR 91.411 / 91.413 Inspector under 14 CFR 135 training program

8. Qualified for Aircraft Airworthiness Release under 14 CFR 135 training program

9. Qualified for Aircraft Engine Start / Taxi / Run under 14 CFR 135 training program (Aircraft Type Specific)

10. Qualified for NVIS Maintenance under 14 CFR 135 training program

11. Government contracting experience in OCONUS austere environments/locations

12. Required: US Passport holder

 13. Preferred: Avionics/Electrical Troubleshooting experience

 14. Preferred: Sheetmetal/Corrosion Control experience

15. Preferred: Experience using NVG in an aviation environment

*Note: Items 4 - 10 will be company provided training if deemed necessary and not already qualified.

Physical Requirements:

Incumbent is required to: be able to lift a minimum of 120 Lbs., perform as an aircraft maintenance technician while being exposed to a wide variety of outside weather conditions (working outside not necessarily in a hanger) including but not limited to extreme heat, cold and adverse weather conditions.
