Horizon Avionics and Maintenance is hiring A&P Mechanics in Alcoa, Tennessee.

Position:

Horizon is looking for qualified and motivated Aircraft Mechanics to grow our maintenance force. The A&P/IA will perform inspections, repairs, and services on customer aircraft and ensure safe operation in a timely manner.

Horizon Avionics and Maintenance has been in business for nearly thirty years at Alcoa's McGhee Tyson Airport. Initially just an avionics install and repair shop, Horizon added maintenance support a few years into operation. Since then, our customer base and workload have grown. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position reports directly to the General Manager. Candidates will work in close partnership with other maintenance crew and avionics technicians. 
  • Mechanics will ensure aircraft are maintained to airworthiness standards by applicable regulations, manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, and company policies.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft airframes and engines.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components using maintenance manuals, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Use precision instruments and equipment to test and maintain aircraft compliance and safety.
  • Work with team members to perform complex tasks and troubleshoot aircraft systems.
  • Typical aircraft will include single and twin general aviation piston aircraft. Including but not limited to Cirrus, Beechcraft, Cessna, Mooney, Piper, etc.
  • Many components being installed/removed can exceed 50 Lbs.
  • Full-time employment (M-F 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Hour lunch break unpaid) 

Ideal Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification (A&P) 
  • Minimum 2 years of piston aircraft experience
    • If you qualify to take your Inspection authorization certification, compensation can be provided to pay for class and testing.
  • An inspection and Authorization license (IA) is considered a plus
  • Own a set of standard aircraft maintenance tools (Calibrated and specialty tooling will be provided)
  • Motivated and positive attitude.
  • Must be able to pass background check, drug & alcohol test, and airport badge screening.
  • Must have basic level computer and organization skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, technical notes, and schematics.
  • Must be able to understand aircraft systems and be able to troubleshoot and repair these systems and components. (Inc. electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic)
  • Able to work as a team. Oftentimes, jobs will require the avionics team and maintenance team to work alongside and together to accomplish tasks.
  • Customer safety focus, work ethic, and commitment to learning.
  • Communication skills. As time moves our industry forward, things change and systems change. We welcome feedback on work needs and programs. Candidates should feel comfortable bringing up problems but are expected to be able to communicate with management potential solutions.

Rate Of Pay:

  • The starting Rate of Pay is determined by previous work experience, licensing, and formal training in appropriate and relevant fields. Pay will range between 22-38 per hour.
  • Yearly raises are available upon evaluation.
  • Weekend AOG callout work is optional when needed and comes with bonus pay.
