Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Head of Quality Assurance based in Mobile, AL

The Head of Quality Assurance is responsible for handling, leading, developing and engaging the Quality Production team to ensure successful delivery of planned activities, ensuring the respect to the standards and pro-actively strengthening prevention and surveillance.

Guaranteeing the conformity of a product to the requirements specified by our customers, and support on quality on time and on cost delivery by delivering right first time to increase customer dedication.

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:
  • Secure the publishing and the maintenance of the FAL A220-Mobile Management System Manual covering all FAL-A220 USA activities

  • Ensure the management of the approval audit-plan agreed with Authorities and POA-holder to achieve the extension of the A220 Quality Manual 24-16 to Mobile, and where gaps are identified, initiate action and provide visibility to management and the required network.

  • Ensure the Internal Audit Plan is implemented and reviewed in line with Airbus Canada Quality targets

  • Maintain a Compliance review providing visibility to all Management and Functions

  • Actively lead the risk to the Production Approvals for the site; specifically on the A220 FAL. 2. Handle specific process(s) locally which are owned by the Quality Department.

  • Maintain the staff qualification-process and system, including the demands and requirements of the Production System.

  • Maintain, coordinate, and review the aircraft documentation and non-conformance (NC) management process.

  • Define and deploy a set of key-performance-indicators (KPI)

  • Ensure the efficiency of the survey and audit-system (QM-System, Process, Product) and the related corrective action management.

  • Ensure harmonization with Central Quality and Central Quality Departments for KPI Reporting and Improvement Projects.

  • Direct a team, including its development, to ensure execution of the above accountabilities and responsibilities.

  • Integrate flexibility into the team

  • Secure the network back to Canada to promote and embed common ways of working across the Airbus FAL’s and harmonization of the Quality Assurance teams.

  • Improvement Projects identified through the FAL locally or via Central or Program Quality.

  • Setting of Quality and Departmental Targets, yearly and daily.

  • Acting, and being seen to act, in accordance with Airbus Quality standards and leadership attitude.

Your boarding pass:
  • Required: Minimum 3 years’ experience in Manufacturing / Quality / Lean Management / Quality Inspection or similar discipline, preferably with an international aerospace company in aircraft manufacturing.

  • Familiar with lean methodologies and processes.

  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing preferred.

  • Strong and effective Practical Problem Solving skills (PPS), and ability to direct and facilitate PPS, and supervise progress to completion.

  • KPI and Pareto understanding.

  • Knowledge of FOD and product safety processes preferred.

  • High degree of flexibility and initiative.

  • Strong communication skills through all levels of the organization and functions.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to independently develop, communicate, and recommend change to processes and procedures.
