Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of construction equipment, material handling equipment, heavy and light duty trucks, fire equipment, power generating equipment and other related equipment.

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and maintains heavy mobile equipment, such as: construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment. Equipment may include bulldozers, tractors, trucks, tracked vehicles, generators and forklifts.

  • Removes and replaces major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators etc.

  • Makes idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.

  • Performs initial and in-process inspections; performs mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction; performs mechanical maintenance on defective parts; and performs minor body work.

  • Provides technical assistance to government LRC personnel as well as other equipment repairers.

  • Operates motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position.

  • Performs repairs on various types of equipment.

  • Replaces components when needed.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles.

  • Completes body work.

  • Inspects and troubleshoots equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a current/valid CDL Class A License: able to pass periodic physical examinations as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation

  • Experience and/or educational background related to mechanics, electronics, or hydraulic systems.

  • Related experience: truck-mounted hydraulic utility equipment such as aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes, specialty equipment; construction, mining, or farm equipment such as dozers or tractors; military heavy equipment such as the MRAP vehicle, HMEE, or tanks; aircraft and aerospace or ground support equipment (AGE/GSE) repair

  • Able to develop the computer skills necessary to complete support duties.

  • Physical effort is required to move objects and service-related tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling are required to service and repair equipment

  • Must have a manual-hand-finger dexterity.

  • Must have eye-hand-foot coordination.

  • Must be able to work in internal/external environments that may be in harsh weather condition.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices

  • Must be US Citizen to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain a CAC.

  • Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
