Helicopter Drive & Rotor Mechanic

About the Role

We are looking for a helicopter transmission mechanic to overhaul, repair, inspect and performance test helicopter transmissions, swashplates, rotorheads and other dynamic components.  You will be working directly with management and test engineers on MRO capability development and process enhancement. This is a full-time position located in Billings, Montana. Compensation is competitive based on experience and credentials.

Billings Flying Service (BFS) is a solutions provider for the aviation industry, specializing in CH-47 aerial firefighting and heavy lift services. The BFS fleet of CH-47Ds, UH-60A, and Bell 206L are capable of firefighting wildfires by either bucket or tank. Our MRO shop has a constantly increasing capabilities list. BFS strives to support all aspects of MRO Support for our fleet and customers.

What You'll Do

• Overhaul, repair, troubleshoot and perform serviceability inspections on components, assemblies and sub assemblies in accordance with technical documentation
• Utilize specialty tooling and fixtures, precision metrology equipment, flow equipment, dynamic run stands
• Comprehensively document work performed in a detailed format
• Ensure all company and personally owned local GSE
• Perform other duties as assigned

Your Required Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English. 
• Must pass airport security background checks and travel for work as required. 
• Must have good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. 
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. 
• Minimum 5 years cumulative experience with civilian/military aviation component overhaul and repair. 
• Experience with precision measurement tooling, techniques and associated factors Frequently lift/push/ carry items up to 50 pounds. 
• Experience on rotorcraft dynamics and drive train (rotor heads, transmissions, swash plates) (preferred) 
• Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license (preferred)
