NDT Aircraft Mechanic

Primary Responsibility:

The nondestructive examination of metals, composites, and other materials for internal and external structural defects, de-lamination, corrosion, and moisture penetration using magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, eddy current, radio-graphic, ultrasonic, or other types of nondestructive test processes and equipment.

The duties and responsibilities consist of and include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Equipment setup, operation, adjustment, and evaluation or interpretation of test readings or results within established parameters for acceptance or rejection
• Perform other such duties as assigned by supervisor

Education Requirements:

• Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses & Document Requirements:

• A valid unrestricted driver’s license
• A&P Certificate preferred but not required

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• Level II or Level III qualification in NDT with FPI-MPI- and Eddy Current experience

Work Environment & Culture Skills:

• Basic MS Office knowledge, computer software & internet proficiency
• Candidate must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screen and a DOT/FAA compliant background check
• Candidate should be motivated, resourceful, energetic, organized, and able to manage and be managed
• Candidate must be reliable, punctual and flexible
• Candidate must be able to multi-task, respect and maintain confidentiality

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Employees are regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
• Moderate to heavy lifting is required (up to 70lbs)
• Must be able to climb and use a ladder, work stands, platforms and lift equipment
• Work within a confined workspace(s)

Location Requirements:

• Operation based in Ypsilanti, MI at Willow Run Airport (YIP)
• There is no ability to work from home
• There will be no relocation package for this position

Shift Requirements:

• Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Must be available full-time and work overtime when required

Other Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation:

• $27 without a license, $29 with an A&P Certificate or Powerplant Certificate
