Position Description

De Havilland Aviation Training is a world-class training centre that strives to provide the highest quality of training in the aviation industry. We are the world’s only operator of a DHC-6 Series 400 Twin Otter Level-D Full Flight Simulator and provide training to Twin Otter pilots from all around the world.

Together with the Technical Team, the Simulator Technician will be responsible for performing routine technical tasks including preventative and corrective maintenance. Keep the training devices at the highest technical standard of fidelity based on the regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execution of the day-to-day technical operations in a way that meets the expectations of internal and external customers. Understands the client mission requirements and works to provide creative solutions and options to meet the training requirements.
  • Assist with and perform Preventive Maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize Maintenance Management System to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Perform preflight and post flight on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.
  • Run automatic QTGs.
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Train on and comply with companies Quality Management System.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.
  • Flexibility to work the required shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager or General Manager.

Education & Experience

  • 2-year technical degree
  • 1-year direct simulator experience or 2-3 years maintenance experience in aviation avionics/electronic systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret system prints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, signal generator, logic analyzer, etc.).
  • Knowledge in analog and digital theory.
  • Computer literate (PC and / or computer mainframe/architecture).
  • Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
  • Some Knowledge of MS-Office tools and suite
