Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Facilities to support our Ordnance Business in Radford, VA. The Director of Facilities oversees and manages all assigned Facilities and Maintenance group activities including site-wide heavy industrial production equipment, water distribution, steam generation, power distribution, and industrial sewer system within the Radford site. The role provides direct supervision to the various managers across the site ensuring safety and operational readiness. Additionally, the Director will oversee the capital planning and execution process. Oversight includes successful project management, review of technical progress, evaluation of results, and actions as required. The role is responsible for the Safety, Health, and Environmental prioritization, execution, performance, and culture of the Maintenance and Facilities groups.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all site project and maintenance activities adhere to proper safety and environmental standards
  • Responsible for maintenance group activities including bargaining unit interaction and understanding of negotiated union contract
  • Fulfill contractual obligations with Army Customer and seek to exceed performance standards
  • Ensure the development and implementation of an annual maintenance plan, including preventative and corrective elements, to ensure business success
  • Ensures good maintenance practices are utilized to drive performance concerning schedules, utilization, cost control, stores management, etc. through benchmarking and continuous improvement
  • Manage compliance of Process Safety Management (PSM) elements such as Reliability, Mechanical Integrity, Contractors, Employee Participation, and Training
  • Manage Process Safety Information, Hot Work, Management of Change/Pre-Startup Safety Review, etc.
  • Develop and manage budgets to include overhead expense, direct funded, and capital
  • Utilize CMMS and other means to track key metrics and KPIs on required frequencies
  • Maintain reliable utility and water treatment operations in safe, compliant, and cost-effective ways
  • Support ISO 50001 requirements and program management
  • Confirm all systems associated with building infrastructure and manufacturing equipment are in operational readiness at all times
  • Provide leadership and guidance; works closely with PWS Program Manager and team
  • Utilize Lean tools and industry and management best practices to maintain a continuous improvement culture


Job Requirements:
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Facilities/Maintenance Management
  • Experience in Manufacturing industries
  • Experience in Operations/Program Management
  • Experience in People Management and Cross-functional Leadership
  • Experience in managing budgets of $20M+ and organizations of 250+ people
  • Knowledge of industrial facilities and maintenance theories and practices in a fast-changing manufacturing environment
  • Ability to maintain awareness of trends and developments in facilities and maintenance technologies and introduce change accordingly
  • Ability to apply management tools in planning, organizing, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing to support buildings and manufacturing demands
  • Ability to orchestrate team members with differing points of view and capabilities across the site, both within the organization and externally, to meet short-term and long-term goals
  • Ability to effectively maintain indirect oversight of 250 employees (exempt and non-exempt)
  • Ability to use conceptual and innovative thinking in identifying solutions to problems and challenges
  • Ability to negotiate, as applicable, with collective bargaining agreement members and strategic partners to ensure work is performed as defined
  • Highly effective management skills to provide direct oversight, guidance, and vision to the organization
  • Exercise analytical thinking skills and practice resourcefulness for additional information while evaluating and attempting resolution of a variety of complex situations
  • Highly developed communication skills to articulate and exchange complex information, often of a sensitive nature, amongst all levels of the organization upward to leadership


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Degree in Engineering
  • MBA or Master’s Degree
  • Experience in Program/Process development, redesign, improvement, and change
  • Experience in Chemical Manufacturing
  • Experience in Defense (DoD) Contracting
  • Experience in Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) environment
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM), Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Integrity, or related areas
  • Experience in Union environments


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $128100 - $217800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
