Role Summary

The Director Regional Flying SkyWest is charged with oversight of the SkyWest operation. This people leader role closely partners with Regional Directors, Managers, and Supervisors to support operational performance, compliance, and vendor relationships.

Key Duties

  • Establish strategic goals and direction for team of Alaska and SkyWest leaders to ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory, compliance, and safety guidelines related to Alaska and SkyWest operations.

  • Coordinate and present at quarterly Operational Performance (OPL) meetings and weekly regional calls with Alaska and SkyWest leaders while ensuring that Alaska and SkyWest leaders are held accountable to operational performance standards.

  • Set long-term strategy for SkyWest interests and operations in designing and developing standard procedures for handling of SkyWest flights by AAG and business partner staff.

  • Liaise between OCC and SOC on irregular operation contingency planning.

  • Partner with the Project Management team on future SkyWest openings.

  • Travel regularly to each SkyWest city in the Alaska Air Group system to support the leadership of those stations.

  • Partner with Alaska Policies and Procedures to ensure that the AAG product is consistently represented from an employee and customer perspective.

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, to ensure managers and staff perform at a high level and provide consistent, value-added results related to SkyWest and Alaska Operations.

  • Partner with other SkyWest and Alaska operational teams such as Safety, Customer Service, Maintenance & Engineering, Flight Operations, Inflight, and other divisions to ensure effective alignment and to share best practices.

  • Shape safety and compliance culture of Alaska and SkyWest teams through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors alongside Regional Compliance Managers.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • A minimum of 8 years of airport operations or related experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 years of experience leading teams of people to achieve companywide goals and initiatives.

  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, or an additional 2 years of experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Experience working with/overseeing vendor relationships.

  • Strong understanding of airport operations which includes but is not limited to above-wing operations (e.g., ticket counter, gate, baggage) and below-wing operations (e.g., ramp operations).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company with others in the organization and key external business partners.

  • Demonstrates an innovative, resilient, fact-based and creative solutions-focused mindset, with ability to thrive in a rapidly-changing, collaborative environment and to manage conflict.

  • A proven ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to position the organization as a critical business partner.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop new ideas to improve safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, influencing and motivational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to present information and effectively communicate in front of varying audiences.

  • Must have valid passport and willingness to travel throughout the Alaska Airlines system. International travel may be required.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.

Salary Range

$116,900 - $192,900 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$153,770 - $252,570

Salary Details

The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
