Position Summary:

The Director of Operations is responsible for directing the functions and activities of our Operations organization to include manufacturing and production control. The Director of Operations will develop strategies to achieve operational objectives for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics. Duties involve directing the Operations organization daily to ensure execution of the company business plan while simultaneously implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives that will deliver long term benefits.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports a zero injury culture by pro-actively complying with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all MSDS’ and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements. Conducts EH&S self-inspection and safety huddles in areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure the Operations organization accomplishes Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost performance objectives. When misses occur, develops a credible recovery plan with team.
  • Works with support departments to ensure that all area production methods and practices are consistent with internal quality standards, and customer requirements
  • Analyzes, establishes, and communicates performance standards for area of responsibility.
  • Control the flow of product, materials and labor utilization in the business unit to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality, inventory and throughput targets.
  • Review and plan for daily, weekly, and quarterly labor, equipment, tooling and supply requirements to achieve area throughput while meeting and exceeding productivity targets.
  • Develop area priorities as it relates to plant requirements and communicate daily with engineering, quality, production control, finance, human resources, production, and suppliers; measure performance against stated priorities.
  • Leads the team in developing and implementing effective systems for improving internal and external quality, cost improvements and on-time delivery to the customer requirements.
  • Effectively collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and production leads to achieve scrap, cost and safety requirements inline with planned pipeline initiatives
  • Provide effective leadership and act in a manner that maintains a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, co-workers and area employees.
  • Manage all aspects of controllable variable costs daily, work with supervisors to determine required staffing levels, and support labor re-allocation across the plant as required.
  • Carry out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Champion and initiate Continuous Improvement projects to increase Revenue per FTE and reduce Variable Cost per Earned Standard Hour.
  • Supports cross training to ensure the elimination of all skill gaps, resulting in a more skilled and adaptable workforce. Ensures the completion of required competency forms and certifications, as well as maintains an employee skill matrix.
  • Administers policies and procedures as required.
  • Provides support to department employees as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years Aerospace/Defense Manufacturing experience (forgings and machining backgrounds preferred)
  • Supervisory experience leading teams of 100+ people; Performance management skills.
  • Analytical skills; Personal accountability; Strong organizational skills.
  • Intermediate use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and QAD; other productivity tools.
  • Quality focused & production driven.
  • Must be capable of working effectively with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Process improvement experience is desirable (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational and verbal & written communication skills.
  • Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Attention to detail and an attitude of 100 compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
  • Work requires verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • High energy level and ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Results oriented.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business administration or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer required

For informational purposes only, the range for annual base salary for this role is $153700 to $211300 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Executive Bonus Plan, paid out up to 30 of the applicable annual base salary, based on the Company’s performance in the prior calendar year. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company&39;s medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
The position will be eligible to participate in the Company’s Long-Term Incentive Program
