This position requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in aviation maintenance and planning, along with strong organizational and communication skills. The Director of Planning reports to the VP/GM of CVG, is responsible for leadership of the planning organization; and is accountable for the oversight of all aspects of CVG Base Maintenance planning to include technical evaluation of new opportunities, creation of comprehensive maintenance schedules, manpower planning, production planning & flow and status reporting. 

Job Duties:

  • Develop and manage the heavy maintenance planning organization, processes and procedures.
  • To review the base maintenance short-term and long-term plan daily to ensure Customer load and MRO capacity are matched and planned to meet Customer input/output times.
  • To recommend suitable planning or re-planning options to accommodate all Customers input needs within MRO capacity.
  • Ensure planning team and Check Managers review all work scope planned prior to induction to include MCS packages, EO’s and revisions with immediate escalation to the Customer for resolution of any issues with the work scope, MCS or EO’s issued with respect to instruction, materials, tooling, and equipment.
  • Develop workable contingency plans when required to flex manpower during heavy loads.
  • Ensure the requirements of the FEAM Repair Station Manual, Policies and Procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Advisory Circulars, Manufacturer’s Service Bulletins, Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Structural Repair Manual (SRM), and any other Approved Technical data are adhered to.
  • To ensure dual paths of problem resolution with the team and Customers enabling on time delivery.
  • To maintain a keen focus on areas of risk that can be mitigated to prevent delays.
  • To ensure that high potential employees are identified and ensure they receive mentoring and coaching to ready them for increased responsibility.
  • To develop and implement visual management systems within the base planning and production area to demonstrate control of checks in work and meet target deliveries.
  • To embrace and implement a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • To performance manage the planning team, ensuring a common goal and cohesiveness within the team to achieve performance, quality, and safety goals. 
  • To grow and develop an accountable leadership team that will help FEAM achieve its goal to become the best MRO.
  • To work seamlessly with key business stake holders within CVG and HQ to achieve performance and company goals.
  • To establish and maintain meaningful reporting and communications with all base Customers.
  • To keep the business informed on the current state of the operation through effective communication, reporting and use of dashboards.

Requirements
  • A&P License
  • Current Valid Driver’s License
  • Able to Pass Airport Security Background Checks. 
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • 10 + years of experience in a fast paced, demanding check and hangar environment.
  • Must be an effective communicator, capable of effective report writing and proficient with business correspondence.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have extensive experience in a leadership role in the performance of letter checks, casualty aircraft and significant maintenance events.
  • Must have extensive experience on relevant Cargo aircraft.
  • Must have demonstrable experience leading a team with a common goal.
