Summary

The Division Accounting Manager will report directly to the Special Metals Division Assistant Controller and will be responsible for working closely with the various sites within Special Metals to provide thorough knowledge, leadership, and drive and energy around timely and high-quality accounting practices and financial reporting deliverables. The Division Accounting Manager will facilitate compliance with US GAAP, consolidate Division results and forecasts (monthly and quarterly), and will have oversight of weekly cash flow forecasting. This position will also be responsible for closing the books for the Special Metals Division staff entity. The Division Accounting Manager will also ensure SOX compliance across the Division, which will require continued interaction with the various plant locations. The Division Accounting Manager will be the first point of contact with Corporate Finance on different SOX events or changes and will then be responsible for disseminating that information to the plants. This role will be responsible for reviewing various reports such as the weekly cash flow report and coordinating with the plants on month end and quarterly close reports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policy across the division
  • Consolidation of the SMC and Energy plant financials monthly/quarterly
  • Drive proactive SOX meetings to enhance plant controls to help prevent control failures
  • Balance Sheet Reviews with all plants annually
  • Drive the development of department objectives that are aligned with overall business goals.
  • Owns the Annual Division Budget and Allocation process along with quarterly bridges
  • Participate and manage various projects, such as upgrading financial system and providing analytical support to the operations as needed (e.g. union negotiations; trouble shooting plant reporting tools). Leading and managing key analytics such as variance analysis, forecast vs actual, prior period results vs actuals, etc.
  • Develop and lead a team that provides value-added service based on an understanding of business objectives to our internal customers
  • Identify and track success metrics (closed by noon WD2, SOX failures, Audits, etc.)
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the finance function and our controls across the division.
  • Plan, organize, and lead the implementation of ad hoc projects as needed
  • 25-35 Travel

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor&39;s degree in accounting or finance. Additional degrees will be considered if experience is relevant.
  • 6-10 years of experience of progressive growth in Accounting/Finance roles
  • Must be knowledgeable of world class internal controls, including Sarbanes Oxley requirements, US GAAP and the ability to apply both to internal standards.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel and experience using Hyperion/FCCS.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration or CPA strongly preferred
  • Prior experience directly managing people
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills and the ability to contribute to business-related problem-solving.
  • Ability to influence people in all levels of SMC, at both the divisional and plant level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate with and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a multi-site environment
