The position supervises finance and accounting controls in Asia & Pacific region while extending support to accounting and tax filing operations in the region as required. Also, the position is responsible to compile various reports for internal stakeholders.

The position will be based either in Tokyo or Hong Kong.

Accountabilities (Responsibilities): 

  • Ensure that effective financial managing processes/systems and controls are developed, implemented and maintained in accordance with corporate policies and requirements.
  • Develop, analyse and monitor the financial plans.
  • Provide guidance and training to local finance and business unit on Finance procedures, policies, financial systems training. 
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance of client business unit/division against plans/budgets and ensure corrective actions are undertaken as required; perform post-evaluations of projects/programs as appropriate to assess actual versus target results.
  • Compile variance analysis for Asia & Pacific region.
  • Provide financial planning/evaluation/monitoring /control leadership, direction and support to the Management.
  • Support Finance and Accounting Managers in Asia & Pacific region for account payable, revenue reporting and tax filings as required.
  • Meet with clients on a regular basis to review financial packages and provide assistance on ad-hoc concerns/problems. Communicate expectations from our Finance side. Maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Perform due diligence in AFC reviews. Challenge clients on requested funds and recommend possible alternatives. Identify and address foreseeable issues and potential risks associated with requested expenditures.
  • Establish positive working relationships with business unit/division management teams. 
  • Identify areas requiring reporting/benchmarking. Design and develop reports to meet client needs. 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Business or Finance 
  • Accounting and/or business designation (CPA,CA, CGA, CMA, MBA, CFA) is an asset
  • Experience/knowledge of company/airline operations.
  • Must be eligible to work in Japan or Hong Kong without restrictions.

Working Conditions: 

  • Permanent full-time position, based in Hong Kong or Tokyo.
  • Must have the right to work in either Japan or Hong Kong unrestricted

Conditions of Employment:

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of interest, at the time any offer of employment is made and seeking any required work permits/visas or other authorizations which may be required is the sole responsibility of the candidates applying for this position.

Linguistic Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in English - oral and written.
  • Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and/or Japanese linguistic skills are asset.
