This Manager-Fuel Procurement & Operations is responsible for the commercial and operational oversight of fuel supply, fuel facility, and into-plane fueling operations for Delta Mainline and Delta Connection in select locations.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Operational responsibilities of the Manager include management and coordination of into plane refueling services and airport fuel facility activities including managing associated budgets and projects.
  • Fuel Management over Delta Hub(s): oversight of one Delta hub and consortium managed tank farm; lease negotiations, liaison with Port/City and CRE, contract execution and supplier management. Lead of a Consortium.
  • RFP and negotiation of jet fuel supply at select locations, including a thorough understanding of the downstream supply chain and alternatives that impact the price we pay and the reliability of a particular supplier.
  • The Manager must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff internally from executives to front line agents. Externally, the position will represent Deltas brand in dealings with industry counterparts, oil companies, engineering professionals, pipeline companies, airport authorities, service providers, general contractors, and external counsel. 
  • The Manager will perform a variety of oversight roles, including budgeting, master planning, defining/communicating/implementing corporate standards, and preparing for performance process improvements. 
  • Additionally, the Manager will prepare RFPs, define scope of work, source and select most qualified business partners to execute airport projects and/or services, and prepare project schedules, reports, timelines, briefings, and business cases. 
  • Manage multiple airport Into-Plane Fueling contracts, compliance and investigate and track fuel delays due to fueling, spill or aircraft damage.  Conduct RFP for new ITP providers at certain locations.
  • The Manager will deliver projects on-time and on-budget, whether in the capacity of Delta or a member of a fuel consortia.
  • Chair the fuel consortia for a Delta Hub and potentially other high profile airports.
  • Collaboratively plans and influences fuel facility master planning activities by defining facility requirements and offering technical solutions and guidance. 
  • Responsible for managing a significant project work load to includes hub and/or complex projects. 
  • Manager will report to the Director-Fuel Procurement & Operations and regularly interface with OCC, Fuel Management, Finance, Legal, Delta Connection, Corporate Real Estate, and ACS. 
  • Travel is required up to 50.
  • The Manager will practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures and uphold Delta Supply Chains Ethics policy.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
  • 5+ years of Fuel Management, airport real estate or related operational management experience is required. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to effectively work with all organizational levels required. 
  • Experience in applying Deltas Strategic Sourcing Process is strongly preferred. Must possess strong coordination, analytical, decision making, and communication skills. 
  • Must be capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and perform with a high level of accuracy with the ability to build consensus. 
  • Proficient in negotiation and contract management. 
  • Should have overall knowledge of company procedures and policies. Strong familiarity with Airline Industry is a plus.  
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus. 
  • Ideal candidate should have strong experience in relationship development with industry stakeholders and partners as well as the ability to manage teams of contractors and/or vendors. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. 
  • Should possess the ability to respond effectively to changing situations. 
  • Proficient in never accepting limits. 
  • Demonstrates organizational values of integrity, respect for people, diversity appreciation, innovation, and adherence to ethical standards.
  •  Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures. 
  • Must be proficient in use of software including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
