TITLE: Manager of Standards  

REPORTS TO: SVP/Director of Flight Ops 

 

Overview: 

The Manager of Standards is responsible for developing, assessing, and communicating all Flight Ops policies, procedures, and process improvements impacting pilots. The manager coordinates new initiatives implementation, safety risk assessments for new and existing procedures, liaisons with the department head for safety and security operations and investigations, updates manuals and communicates with business partners and team members.  The primary work location for this position will be company HQ.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Policy and Procedure Development

Develops, assesses, and communicates new and revised policies and procedures for the

 Flight Ops department

Develops and maintains working relationships with inter-departmental contacts

Serves as Flight Ops department liaison for inter-departmental projects

Ensures affected departments are included in policy and procedure development

Ensures all affected areas understand and implement new company initiatives

Reviews and revises content of all Flight Ops department manuals, online references,

 and other forms of Flight Ops communication.

 

• Regulatory and Company Compliance

Participates in monthly Safety Management Systems meetings and conducts Safety Risk

 Assessments for new policies or procedures that are initiated from the Flight Ops

 department

Reviews, analyzes, and disseminates all documents from regulatory authorities to all

 stakeholders.

 

• Check Airmen Oversight

Creates documentation to recruit, train, and support Check Airmen

Coordinates the training, checking, and standardization of the Check Airman Corp

Updates and maintains reference materials, as appropriate

 

• Communication and Manual Integration

Creates documentation to support new and existing company initiatives

Research Flight Ops and company-wide implications of those initiatives

Updates and maintains reference materials, as appropriate

Liaises with external entities, equipment manufacturers, and providers

Incorporates policies and procedures into appropriate manuals based on internal

 document control procedures

Reviews departmental and interdepartmental documents

Periodically audits and initiates changes to reference sources to ensure sources are

 accurate and reflect current policies and procedures.

Periodically reviews the Airbus World web page for information and presentations

Ability to obtain and maintain current GlobalX pilot qualifications or the equivalent, as

 determined by the SVP/DO

 

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred, combination of relevant experience and education

 considered equivalent.

• Minimum 3 years of airline experience

• Minimum 2 years of policies and procedures development experience preferred

• Previous Check Airman experience required

• Airline computer experience preferred

• Excellent computer skills with functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (MSWord, Excel,

 PowerPoint)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects, make decisions and

 meet deadlines

• Ability to read and understand complex documents and rewrite the information in simpler terms

• Ability to work from concepts to create completed works

• Ability to serve as a liaison between the System Policies and Procedures department and other

 areas of the company

• Ability to work as a team member with a strong customer service orientation

• Ability to work with confidential material
