  • This job is a member of the Safety and Efficiency Team within the Safety Systems, Efficiency, and Compliance Department.
  • Responsible for the facilitation of operation of fatigue risk management in support of American Airlines Operations. This position provides the coordination, facilitation, and execution of; the fatigue program, training and awareness for all operational groups and management support staff, the FRMS Alternative Method of Compliance exemptions to FAR Part 117, and regulatory compliance reporting, data trending and analysis.
What youll do
  • Responsible for leading a team of analysts/sr. analysts that analyze fatigue events to evaluate and escalate, fatigue and flight safety trends and concerns arising from fatigue reporting.
  • Utilizes bio-mathematical fatigue and alertness modeling software to identify fatigue potential in crew member schedule design and analysis of fatigue events.
  • Works closely with union labor groups and management stakeholders during regular meetings to mitigate fatigue risk in the operation.
  • Creates fatigue program presentation packages for the monthly pilot fatigue review, and other meetings as needed and coordinates actions and initiatives in support of regulatory compliance and risk reduction.
  • Designs and delivers fatigue training packages.
  • Responsible for designing, implementation and supporting data collection, analysis and reporting for the FAA Part 117 FRMS Alternate Methods of Compliance (AMOCs) studies.
  • Leads FAR Part 117 compliance and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelors degree in related area or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years airline operational or management support experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in human fatigue studies, human factors studies, safety case studies, airline operations, and/or fatigue risk management.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience with employee reporting and software for data trending and analysis software.
  • Experience with fatigue and alertness bio-methodical modeling software.
  • Extensive knowledge related to FAR Part 117 and FRMS Alternative Methods of Compliance.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Experience working collaboratively with unions, industry, and regulators
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Must demonstrate initiative, assertiveness, and possess the ability to interact with all levels of management and regulatory officials
  • Ability to analyze and trend safety data
  • Extensive knoweldge of Microsoft Office Suite
