Reporting to Delta’s General Manager of Dangerous Goods, Environmental Health & Systems, the Manager – Industrial Hygiene develops and executes Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health programs at Delta, including:

  • Oversight of the industrial hygiene program across all operational divisions, including airport facilities, maintenance areas, and corporate offices, ensuring consistent standards and practices
  • Development, implementation, and continuous improvement of industrial hygiene policies and strategies that align with company goals.
  • Provide direction on high-level decisions, collaborating closely with Delta’s Certified Industrial Hygienist and other senior leaders.
  • Conducting risk assessments and coordinate industrial hygiene initiatives across various departments
  • Represent the company in regulatory discussions, audits, and inspections with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Act as a key liaison to relevant industry and subject matter organizations such as AIHA, ACGIH, ASHRAE, A4A, and IATA, ensuring that all programs meet or exceed established best practices and industry norms
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on industrial hygiene topics, including chemical, physical, and biological hazard management. Lead efforts to stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements.
  • Create and maintain policies and training programs related to industrial hygiene, promoting health and safety awareness and compliance across the organization.
  • Manage the industrial hygiene program budget, responsibly allocating resources to maximize program effectiveness
  • Position requires 20 travel and a commitment to continuing education

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably in the airline or transportation industry
  • Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, including risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive initiatives without direct authority
  • Skilled in effectively communicating complex information to stakeholders at all levels, including regulators, executives, and frontline employees
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience in project management
  • Must be responsible, dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Should have a working knowledge of standard desktop computer functions such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must possess strong planning and organizational skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees a must
  • CIH preferred or commitment to obtaining CIH certification within 2 years
  • Experience managing budgets and allocating resources effectively
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in current position
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
