As Manager, Lost Time and Attendance, you will help lead and execute our centralized attendance strategy for Airports, Contact Centers, and Inflight Dining Operations, driving process and efficiency improvements that strengthen workforce reliability and elevate customer service. Develop structured processes that leverage AI and automation to equip frontline attendance managers to maximize their impact on lost time results. Ensure scalable processes and team member development, shaping the future of operations administration at American Airlines through collaboration, best practices, and forward-thinking solutions.

What youll do

• Leads a team responsible for attendance management in airports and contact centers through engagement with frontline team members and collaboration with local leadership and other stakeholders
• Leverage AI tools and automation to efficiently develop targeted and scalable strategies, focusing human expertise on the highest impact attendance cases
• Analyze lost time drivers and trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies that reduce operational disruption and labor costs
• Engage with data and analytics teams to enable timely, consistent, and insightful reporting at a local and system level
• Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of new tools, processes, and reporting capabilities across geographically distributed teams
• Develop processes and tools to standardize and optimize workflows for attendance management teams across the system
• Ensure effective and efficient support for Leave of Absence processes, including team member education and follow-up, understanding of leave conditions and procedures, and consistent return to work practices
• Partner with Absence Management team and other stakeholders to enhance and evolve Leave of Absence systems and processes
• Engage with product owners and IT to optimize the utility of the Attendance and Performance System (APS)
• Guide training resources and expertise to prioritize education and reinforcement of attendance culture and policies, and to develop attendance manager skillsets and interactions
• Drive focus and prioritization of other projects or initiatives that will improve overall efficiency and results

All youll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
• 5 years proven experience in a leadership/management role or relevant experience
• Experience with process improvement in operations and/or production environments

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Demonstrates curiosity and experience in leveraging AI to drive process efficiency and effectiveness
• Experience leading attendance or workforce initiatives across large, distributed, or multi site operations (e.g., airports, contact centers, field operations)
• Experience operating within unionized or highly regulated environments, including interpretation of attendance, leave, and disciplinary provisions
• Experience driving behavior change through leader coaching, education, and reinforcement rather than policy enforcement alone
• Leadership experience in workforce management, attendance programs, or operational environments
• Experience working with a contract labor group

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Strong leadership skills including excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution
• Demonstrates experience and proficiency in leveraging AI to drive process efficiency and effectiveness
• Proficiency in data visualization or project management tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Power Automate, Asana)
• Critical thinking and decision-making abilities
• Demonstrated ability to interpret data, identify root causes, and influence leaders through data driven insights and storytelling
• Strong presentation skills including Microsoft Powerpoint
• Ability to lead change and implement scalable solutions in dynamic environments
• Ability to utilize database/reporting tools to prepare reports for analysis and management review
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple assignments and shift priorities as required, within a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Knowledge of the applicable workforce collective bargaining agreements, for CWA / IBT and TWU / IAM
• Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
• Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
• Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
