Position Overview:

This position reports to the Director, Maintenance. Under the guidance of the Director of Maintenance, establish training objectives and compliance-based training programs in accordance with FARs, GMM and industry best practices.

Manages the PHI Air Medical GMM Vol. 4 – Maintenance Training Program. Responsible for developing training course outlines, training guidelines, and training record delivery to the PHI Air Medical Director of Maintenance as required. Ensures availability of instructors, material and classrooms in order to fulfill the training requirements. Develop procedures and policies for conduct of business within the Maintenance Training Department.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with Director, Maintenance to establish training objectives for the department.
  • Assist Director of Maintenance in selection of Maintenance Instructors
  • Provide training and professional development of maintenance instructors in accordance with company guidelines and the maintenance training manual.
  • Prioritize training projects and instructor workloads to minimize work over.
  • Audit maintenance training courses to ensure compliance with GMM appropriate FARs and PHI Air Medicals Maintenance Training Manual.
  • Maintain the Training Manual, and Maintenance Publications in an up-to-date status
  • Monitor the staff of all maintenance AMTs to determine their training requirements, and assist schedulers to properly schedule training for AMTs. This includes travelling to outlying bases to perform training.
  • Maintain a liaison with Director of Maintenance to determine their training requirements, and perform the necessary training they need.
  • Provide information to employees on FAA regulations and PHI policies.
  • Develop training materials for dissemination to PHI employees.
  • Review and update all classroom materials for applicability and for any changes that may have occurred.
  • Prepare training classes for outside customers in accordance with their requirements.
  • Maintain a status program on all OJT programs established for outside customers.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Director of Maintenance or other company officers.
  • Insure employees receive timely notification of training requirements and available training programs.
  • Update maintenance instructors and flight instructors on current maintenance procedures affecting pilot training.
  • Conduct regular meetings with maintenance Instructors and Lead Check Airman to ensure good communications of safety, procedural and administrative issues affecting the training department.
  • Assist Director of Maintenance in development of financial review of maintenance training programs and budget development.
  • Responsible for managing the Maintenance Alert Notices
  • Responsible for managing Recurrent Training criteria and Schedule.
  • Responsible for the training of New Hire Indoctrination of AMTs.
  • Work with Maintenance Managers of class scheduling for all AMTs.
  • Work with Compliance to review aircraft maintenance program, to include all bulletins for each model aircraft
  • Supervise and train maintenance instructor staff
  • Perform recurrent training classes and initial classs as required
  • Ensure training programs comply with GMM and appropriate FARs

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years as an instructor
  • Minimum 5 years as an A&P
  • Minimum 2 years line-mechanic experience with ground instructor training preferred.
  • Inspector Authorization required within 12 months of acceptance.
  • 407, AS350, EC135, EC145, S76 preferred.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Windows – Word, Access, PowerPoint, CorelDraw, Aldus Photostyler, etc.)
