Job Summary:
Reporting to the Department Director, this position manages Occupational Health, Drug and Alcohol Program and Infection Control standards. This position includes the title of Designated Employer Representative (DER) and responsibilities associated with the role. This position collaborates with subject matter experts in Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) and Clinical Teams to maintain the highest level of expertise with areas of responsibility. This position also collaborates with the Chief Human Resources Officer and Contracted Medical Director in order to provide seamless service and response to employee needs while maintaining compliance with federal/ state laws and company requirements.
Responsibilities Include:
- Maintains occupational health standards for new and existing employees for each discipline in accordance with OSHA, applicable state and federal regulations and company requirements.
- Maintains standards for Functional Capacity Testing (FCT) for new and existing employees. Includes validation and/or adjustment of current physical testing requirements as required to meet state and federal regulations.
- Manages Fitness for Duty evaluations, collaborates with management and human resources on the best course of action.
- Manages Occupational Health/Infection Control administrative processes including data collection/analysis as identified and implements a related Continuous Quality Improvement program and associated quarterly reporting.
- Collaborates with HSEQ, Clinical Management, and Medical Director to ensure the infection control program and response to exposure related events is thoroughly developed and functionally efficient in order to provide employees with rapid response and treatment as needed.
- Manages active exposure incidents with employees acting as the PHI Health Infection Control Officer.
- Collaborates with HSEQ and Clinical Management to define, evaluate, and oversee compliance with annual training requirements related to Exposure Control plan/Bloodborne Pathogens, exposure-reporting process in accordance with OSHA and company requirements.
- Provides education to employees on various health topics including infection control, fitness for duty requirements, medication allowance for safety sensitive employees and audiogram results.
- Provides Education and Quality Improvement to PHI Occupational Health Navigation employees related to Injury /Exposure call intake.
- Maintains secure, confidential data base for all employee health records.
- Manages Occupational Health clinical agreements nationwide.
- Rotates Work Related Injury and Exposure call with Occupational Health Specialist
- Work with HSEQ department to produce and maintain the Fatigue Management Program to include PVT testing and follow up.
- Ensures all aspects of the Drug and Alcohol Program comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other applicable regulations as the Designated Employer Representative (DER)
- Documents Reasonable Suspicion training delivery and conducts frequent D&A audits
Schedule and Location
A Successful Candidate will have:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing required.
- Current Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing required.
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Three years of occupational health experience required.
- Three years of clinical experience required.
- Excellent communication skills to include oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, and written expression.
- Ability to work in a highly organized and detailed-oriented fashion while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues promptly and effectively.
- Ability to accurately work with Microsoft products, Outlook, Work, Excel and other specific databases with above average typing speed and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- This position is designated Safety Sensitive for purposes of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.
- This position must maintain the requirements of Manager Clinical services as related to licensure, certifications and annual training courses.
- This position requires a rotating on call schedule to respond to both Occupational Health and Drug and Alcohol issues.
