Job SummaryWhat is the Opportunity?

As the Manager, Payroll Audit & Taxation, you will lead NAV CANADA’s Canadian payroll and payroll taxation team and ensure the accuracy of payroll preparation and processing, payroll accounting, tax filing and remittances, as well as developing a roadmap that ensures ongoing compliance and adherence to federal regulations.

What will you do?

  • Lead a high performing team which executes the highest standards of employee life cycle change and payroll delivery, in all employee tax matters.
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll preparation and processing, payroll accounting, tax filing and remittance, and various special payments.
  • Develop payroll procedures, controlling and supervising the preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll-related payments.
  • Ensures compliance with internal control requirements, regulatory requirements and HR policies and programs in the delivery of payroll.
  • Collaborative work with both internal (HR, Finance) and external (Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Quebec, etc) stakeholders.
  • Oversee the generation and reconciliation of all year-end tax forms.
  • Accountable for developing an evolving  Payroll and Payroll Taxation roadmap that ensures compliance and ongoing adherence to all federal regulations and technology solutions that support these requirements.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources or a related field or a combination of equivalent education, training and experience.
  • 5 years of experience leading a payroll function (including payroll tax compliance) in a unionized organization.
  • 5 years of experience processing payroll in-house leverage an HRMS solution, preferably Workday.
  • Significant work experience with demonstrated achievement and leadership in payroll tax processes and regulatory compliance in a service-oriented environment.
  • Experience in handling payroll audits, inspections and compliance assessments.
  • Proven experience in managing relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
