The Manager, Performance & Development provides leadership in the development and implementation of all Performance Management practices  for all non-unionized employees at Air Canada. Working closely with HR and other Senior Leaders, this individual is responsible for managing all aspects of the performance management program’s annual cycle, including the development of resources, training, and communication campaigns. They will also collaborate with other members of the Corporate Talent team to ensure program alignment and integration with existing and emerging corporate learning and career development programs, and will play a leading role in the evolution of Air Canada’s approach to performance management over time based on leading practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to enhance the effectiveness of the performance management program for all non-unionized employees.
  • Oversees the implementation of the yearly performance management cycle across Global HR and the business, collaborating with partners and stakeholders.
  • Develops strategic communication plans and deploy program communications to drive key actions among managers and employees at each phase of the program cycle.
  • Leads the development of resources and tools to support managers and employees in effective goal setting and robust performance conversations. 
  • Proactively engages with HR Business Partners to enable them to support their client groups through each phase of the cycle (e.g., through regular email communications, lunch & learns / info sessions)
  • Collaborates with IT partners to maintain and enhance the performance management system (ePerformance), as required.
  • Analyzes program data, creates reports for key stakeholders, and presents findings and recommendations for key audiences, including Executives.
  • Maintains up-to-date industry knowledge and understanding of trends in the performance and development space.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience managing talent programs at the enterprise level (e.g., performance management, learning and development, onboarding, employee engagement) 
  • Demonstrated experience creating performance management and development resources, toolkits, and strategic communication campaigns.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to situations, while rallying others towards a common goal. 
  • Ability to plan tactics, set priorities and perform tasks independently in a complex environment; strong program / project management skills.
  • Strong MS Excel skills to analyze data and create reports for key stakeholders. 
  • Ability to analyze program data and translate complex information into clear and compelling content (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, infographics, tip sheets) for audiences ranging from front-line employees to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrates a “can-do” attitude to effectively manage multiple priorities, often with tight timelines, and produce high quality deliverables 
  • Undergraduate / Masters degree in related business field (e.g., human resources, organizational development)
