Job Description:

Primary Objective of the Position:

Under the general direction of the Station Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient handling of Aircraft and Cargo, while effectively leading teams to ensure on time performance and maintaining a safe work environment for employees.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, motivation, support and direction to all staff.
  • Coach and develop employees, including performance management, training support, orientation and disciplinary action when applicable.
  • Support in Scheduling & managing employee shifts; recruit & select employees when applicable.
  • Delegate supplier orders and other tasks to staff; perform supplier audits, as required to support the Station Manager.
  • Participate, oversee and audit workplace Health & Safety matters in conjunction with the Station Manager.
  • Create and implement contingency plans in the event of operational disruptions.
  • Advise key staff of abnormal freight movements and special handling instructions.
  • Complete and approve payroll timesheets on a bi-weekly basis; completion of Human Resources documents as required.
  • Prepare, collect & review documentation and implement company procedures specific to the stations operation.
  • Co-operate with Airport Authority and other carriers to ensure assistance when required.
  • Prepare reports for Senior Management as required.
  • Oversee all contract suppliers as applicable to ramp operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all Cargojet policies, procedures and regulatory/legislative requirements.
  • Communicate with down line stations to ensure available resources (ULDs, herc straps, etc.) are forwarded as needed/required.
  • Co-ordinate daily plan in regards to loading/unloading Aircraft in regards customer tenders and retrievals on the ramp.
  • Inform Local and National Management of any operational issues related to flight delays.
  • Operate within budget parameters.
  • Must be resourceful and have excellent problem-solving skills to resolve day-to-day issues with a “can do” attitude and multitask with a sense of urgency and dedication to the success of the operation.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma; Post-Secondary education in an Aviation related or Management program would be an asset.
  • 3-5 years of previous management experience.
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of all MS Office programs.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card and D/A (RAIC/AVOP)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and noisy environment.
  • Basic accounting/general math skills.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Trained in WHMIS, SMS, First-Aid, Weight & Balance, Dangerous Goods and relevant Health & Safety courses.
