Job Description:

Airbus commercial aircraft is looking for a Tool Shop Manager to join their team based in Mobile, AL.

The Tool Shop Manager will be responsible for the Operational management of the Toolshop consisting of the management of all site Toolshops, for the A320 and A220 program, on the Final Assembly Line (FAL) and Flight Line (FL).

Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice for Toolshop strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance

  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization

  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Toolshop activities

  • Responsible for handling 3rd party service providers.

  • Implement storage of tools to facilitate the highest standards within the department for good housekeeping, health, safety and environmental

  • Supervise all work through the Toolshop efficiently and cost effectively and ensure that all target dates for Job Orders/Requisitions are met

  • Implement budget for investment of new equipment and drive Return of Interest of these investments

  • Prepare the annual Toolshop budget and forecasts for capital expenditure to support program ramp-up and end of life retirement of existing assets.

  • Interface, liaise and communicate with FAL Alabama heads of operations, Alabama Delivery Center (ADC) and other departments, suppliers and service providers

Your boarding pass:

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or an equivalent experience in supporting operations.

Experience:
  • Minimum or 8 years of leading, supervising or managing a team.

  • Confirmed knowledge of industrial safety requirements and OSHA regulations

  • Understanding of Tooling Technologies, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control in an aerospace environment

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct practical problem solving and/or root cause of failure analyses

  • SAP experience desired
